Just A suggestion, with all your small rusty pieces, drop them in a container of molasses and water, one part molasses to ten parts water. leave them in there for four weeks, take out and pressure wash with water. Even works for doors and larger items if you get a big enough container. No distortion from blasting.

Wait it’s not done. What happened after this? It’s been two years. Any updates?

Well I ended up getting a 1973 VW Thing, so I had to switch focus on it. I have finished the Thing... traded it for a 2005 Porsche Boxster S and just sold it. Once my house remodel gets done....I hope to get back on it.

@@watsonst04 oh wow. Someone traded a Porsche for a thing?! Cool. Good luck on the remodel and hope to see the bus project return.

I still have it, just forced to be on back burner right now... hopefully this year I'll get back on it.

great job! I need to do the same to mine. On my other bus I hand sanded everything and this process seems so much nicer on the metal and hands. What did you seal it with and is it weld thru or do you have to grind it off when you start your welding?
@watsonst044 жыл бұрын
I was going to sand it like I did my 1984 GMC, but being this has rust everywhere and I was doing complete restoration...dustless blasting only made sense. I would have spend countless hours sanding and still would never get it to this level. The sealer was an epoxy primer, but it isn't weld through. Not a big deal as most of the metal is either spot welded back on or I'll have to cut it off giving me a weldable surface. Once I finish the entire truck metal it will be sprayed again before I put color on it.

How about part 9 ? ☺️
@watsonst044 жыл бұрын
Part 9 is gonna be awhile. I've been buying more and more metal, so when the days come to start cutting everything I should have everything...sorry for the wait. Now that I have the Audi R8 it doesn't help with extra money to buy more parts.
