I picked up this 1963 Chevrolet C10 longbed 2WD pickup from a pasture where it had been sitting for many years. It was last tagged in 1984. Let's see if this 230 cubic inch inline 6 cylinder engine and 3 speed manual transmission will live on again! If you're interested in purchasing the pickup I do have a clear ND title in my name. I'm asking $1500 for it in the as shown condition you see here in this video. Thanks for watching everyone!
Check out our new and improved Mortske merch site!!

"Gotta start, it's a Chevy." At least you can sell the glass out of it. That 230 was a solid motor for GM for years. We had that motor in a 2o ft. inboard outboard boat as a Mercury Mercruiser for 42 years. I was going to rebuild the motor but I couldn't get seals for the sterndrive from Mercury so the boat got donated to Goodwill. It was a solid motor in its day with a ton of torque and frugal on the gas. It could pull 2 slalom skiers easily in its day.

That engine sounds like it’s fighting you saying “nah nah/nah nah nah… I don’t/wanna start… I don’t/wanna start!” We’ll, no one can say you didn’t go above and beyond trying, but when she’s loose she’s loose, and unfortunately that’s not the kind of girls I go out with. You’ve brought more dead and all but scrapped rusty steel back to life than imaginable and you make it fun… It is what it is. If you can’t make a doghouse out of it for Duff then off it should go… It’s onto bigger, better rustier, rotted metal, battery less, seized solid, bad starter, mice motels snatched at the crushers doorstep! Dude this channel is pure gold, You’ll get the next one… 👍🏼👍🏼

Could have done a rebuild in that amount of time. Pull it and freshen it up. Who needs to see another 350 drop in (I’ve got nothing against 350’s). An old 230 is at least a little more fun. My first set of wheels was a 61 step side that my father bought for me. It was radio delete and heater delete. I drove it until November when the snow started.

I’m a welder in a shop that builds annealing Furnaces and we have these massive fixture tables that we use to build the roofs. Whenever a guys boots start to wear and the steel toe shows through you sneak up while he’s on that table with his toes down and tack the toes of his boots down to the table real quick. We’ve also welded some tool boxes shut before (not nice boxes, just cheap carry boxes).

Back in the '70s I picked up a few '60s Chevys with 6 cyl and the old 2 speed powerglide for around $50 a piece. Did a wet and dry compression test, if pass I would spend $20 on points, plugs, condenser, rotor, cap and a carb rebuild kit at PeP Boys (parts were much cheaper and better then). A timing light and dwell meter/tach and you were good. I would run them for about 20K and get another one. I would drive down the street in drive doing about 50 mph and throw them into reverse. I couldn't kill those things!!!

That tool is for spinning tie wire around the ol rebar. You want Bosch for a starter sponsor. Those little buggers sure spin a Chevy over quick. My 62 C50 Bus had one of those 230's. Replaced all the plugs and wires the way they were. Got about 300 miles and burned a 3/4 inch hole in the top of #3 piston. I replaced the piston and got another 100 miles or so. A mechanic friend of my dads found out the wires between 2 and 4 were crossed. Ran good after they were swapped. Tough little motors. 350 in him now. I buy JB Weld in the big tubes. Love that stuff. Scott got a new parts cleaner, did you see that? Pretty nice of Tim. A new word for things that dont work any more? Sfukt.

Can't say you didn't try. Some just need too much love. Better luck next time. Sure glad we don't have mud dobbers here in North Minnesota.

Sounded like it just wasn't turning over fast enough. Need to hook a 24 volt setup in her to try turning over faster. Other than that I agree with you.

Maybe you should drive out to Oklahoma and check out some of those yards that Puddin gets his cars from. Maybe you'll get lucky. Of course, with your luck, you'll probably pick the one car on that lot with a bad starter and stuck engine, lol.

I have a 60 with the 235. I thought it was stuck. Well it wasn’t. The clutch and flywheel ended up being stuck together and made it basically stuck in gear.

I should still turn over just fine so long as it's not in gear. We get them running with stuck clutches all the time.

@@MortskeRepair my trans may be stuck between gears then. I removed the driveshaft and got it to turn over Fine that way. Doing a frame swap, so I figured I’d diagnose better when I can pull it apart easier.

No! Say it ain't so Mortske. A Chevy motor that you could not get to start. Well this has got to be a historical first. Personally I will have to just blame that silly Rochester carburetor. Lmao Thanks for entertaining us. Looking forward to the next one.

Hello. I believe the squeak was an Engine bearing, as the water was probably up to the bearings. I believe that's why it was spinning slow. I might have over filled the engine oil up to the bearings to stop the squeak. (Did that once before). Maybe pushing the truck then letting the clutch out in gear, it may have started. Needed to spin faster. Best wishes. I enjoy your KZbin videos.

Totally agree with you. Never saw a voltage test on that old battery. But I would have push started it before giving up on it. That's such a bummer for me just watching it. For you devastating . Confidence killer. I know . Watch some VGG Get some pointers there . Do more like he does. Vroom vrooom
