Күн бұрын

Late last fall I picked up this 1967 Chevrolet C10 pickup from the family of the original owner in northwestern North Dakota. They had placed it in a fence row in 2007 after 40 years of service on the ranch. Let's see if we can get the old small block to come back to life after a long slumber! If you're interested in purchasing this pickup it is in the as shown condition at the end of the video with the engine removed. This pickup has been SOLD! As always, thanks for watching!

C'mon, these trucks were junk when they were new. Fifty-five years has not improved them. That's what I don't get. Even if they were restored to like new condition, there is still no quality there.

All, somebody's a chevy hater! They were junk when new? I would love to see proof of that statement! The 67 through 72 gm trucks were number one in sales and beat ford and dodge out in longevity for many many years!

Yeah they're crap. That's why nobody wants them and they aren't worth any money and don't have a huge following. They also didn't last very long and weren't used by hundreds of thousands of people for a reliable work truck. Yeah no quality at all. And they sure haven't stood the test of time.

Little friendly advice, if you are trying to rock a rig against the trans to unlock said engine, it is better to put it in high gear and you will get more torque for the push at the crank. Low gear makes it easier for the engine to move the rear end, high gear makes it easier for the rear end to to move the engine. Tech tip of the day ;)

Wow, if I didn't see it with my own eyes I wouldn't of believed that thing fired off for a couple of seconds it did! A dingle berry hone, a new set of replacement pistons and rings close to the same weight and put her back together. Top it off with a set of 305 Vortec heads, a genuine imitation RPM Airgap style intake, a 4bbl of your choice and cam it to your needs and you'll have a great little runner.

When you try to get the engine moving by rocking it in gear, try 4th gear. There's less resistance because it'll be turning the engine slower in a higher gear. I know this from push starting motorcycles. I really love these trucks, had a 69 with the 396 th400

Tom, it was common in the 1970's and 1980's to put later model smog heads on 1960's engines to be able to run regular unleaded gas. The smog heads lowered the compression ratio and had induction hardened exhaust valve seats for no lead gas. Your heads being later than 1971 should use 5/8" tapered seat spark plugs and not the gasketed 13/16" plugs. If these do have 1.72" intake valves then these heads came off of a medium duty truck 350 (school bus, dump truck, C60 etc.).

Note to self: If you store a vehicle, especially outside, might wanna plug up the exhaust as well as the intake. Wow....I was surprised it ran for just the short time it did. I think the truck is worth keeping. The patina is cool, and it's still really solid. Those snow tires are worth keeping If you sell, they look like they're still good. Thanks for sharing Mort! It's like what I've always said, sometimes you have to prove things to people because they just don't get it. But most of the time I tell them "See that station, yeah, that's where you can get off at....I do it my way" Keep up the good work!

If I didn't mishear your inventory of available parts, it might be a good side project to build the truck for resale using some of the parts you listed. In running condition, it would be worth considerably more than your asking price as it sits. If nothing else, it would be good second channel content and the selling price would keep you in sammiches and Duff in treats for a year or so.

Mojocraft! Love it! The Henry J was Kaiser-Frasier's attempt to build and sell a small(er) inexpensive automobile when most Americans weren't interested in that. It was woefully underpowered with it's Willys flathead 4 and too spartan for post-WWII American taste. Sold from '51 - '54 although the '54's may have just been leftover '53's. They had a lot of surplus...

My friends thought I was crazy, when I tell them about the Henry J's. I was in Nebraska and seen one in person. Henry J's were made in the willow run plant in Michigan . I enjoy your videos , and lets not forget Duff Dawg!.

I was watching Brent of "Halfass Kustoms" he said he was doing the "Mortske flick" yesterday on a Model T. I started watching him several months ago when you mentioned his channel. He seems like a awesome guy to be around who loves his family and his dog Pablo. Too bad he lives so far away, he would be a great guy to meet. Thanks for sharing your video.

That was one of the more interesting engine stories Ive seen on KZbin. Mice do a lot of damage that I would never have guessed at.

I have a couple of these trucks and a few square body 75 to 78 trucks Drive the square bodies and forget about those low nickel blocks that were to soft to save always needed bored with a tear down. Those heads with the compresson copper rings on spark plugs usually not good choice to save. You done a lot of hard work for this video. Appericate your showing every thing.

Definitely make that logo into a Mortske T-shirt! As to the ‘67 Chevy -GMC’s being junk, don’t agree. My dad bought a ‘67 and it was one of the best trucks in the family for many years.

Cool to see that troubleshooting contest trophy! A childhood friend of mine, his father was a high school auto shop teacher would take a few students and win small and large trophies like that one. I used to look at them all the time. It seemed like he won every year for years in the sixties and seventies and the were tall trophies! I thought I would never see one again. I remember it because of that car, which I thought were the weirdest cars.

Not too many of the all steel trucks left. Had a 64 with a 283. Easy rebuild. It's definitely worth it.

Had high hopes for that engine, she had all the makings for a good crankcase fireball, good times from the past. That motorhome engine and trans sure ran well, possible transplant since this autopsy didn't have a good outcome.
