Our family had an RCA Whirlpool washer and matching dryer of this vintage. The lighted panel was exactly the same as this one. The agitator was black with a chrome cap. The control panel was slightly different. 2 speed with wash & wear, normal, gentle and super wash. It was probably one model down from this Mark series. The only repair in 20+ years was a new water pump.

Was it turquoise or was it white? The model below the Mark XII was the Imperial model which basically had the same features but no push button timer.

@seana806Ай бұрын
@scottgionet7265 honestly, Whirlpool has always cheap’d out on certain components such as the Controls Corporation timers which weren’t very good, gauge of steel on the outer tub along with not using a thick layer of porcelain, changed things every year just for the sake of doing so which made it tricky to find parts even then and never were consistent. In a way, Whirlpool has never been good in terms of parts availability, to add insult to injury, they changed the model numbers of their machines every year which makes it a PITA to track down parts.
@mosriteminioncause7741Ай бұрын
@@seana806 This started happening around 1976 (world politics broke into the American market place) and subtly got worse ever since...in the beginning warranties were good to encourage customers to get the "trained repairmen" and the work cost would make you go "ouch" but tolerable...Now it cost as much to replace the dang machine and as you have said the parts are sub standard so months if not weeks later "crack" Not to mention very complicated digital controls.

Interesting to see all these vintage top loaders as in UK we did have 2 makes & models but mainly twintubs and front loaders, love the control panel , almost looks like the start of computer control being added to the control panel in how it operates . Is this what is called a brush filter to filter the water ?
@seana806 Жыл бұрын
This has the brush lint filter that filters out the water, it’s the Magic Mix dispenser which is not only a lint filter but doubles as the detergent dispenser as well though you can add detergent directly to the tub if wanted. I usually use the dispenser/filter since it thoroughly mixes the detergent with the water as soon as it starts.

Thank you, thank you thank you for not talking or running a music track during the video! A very few well-placed words are alright, but then there are those who talk incessantly...and needlessly...during the entire video. Or have music that is louder than the appliance, drowning it out. Those distract and detract from what is going on.
@seana8062 жыл бұрын
I don’t play any music since there are the issues with copyright, along with drowning out the sound of the machine. If I were to play any music, it would either be doo-wop music from the early 60’s or Hi-Fi easy listening music from this era as well.
@befdoglover12 ай бұрын
I agree with that, especially when people like me are using videos like these for sleeping. It really disturbs all that when that person who is recording has to talk every minute. I would rather just listen to the machine because it is comforting.

i don't think it is supposed to stop before draining and then stop before refilling even before the actual drain for the wash portion
@seana806 Жыл бұрын
It is supposed to do that according to the timer chart. Reason why there’s a pause is the timer incriminates/advances every 2 minutes, basically drains the water on the Super Wash cycle after 6 minutes pauses for 2 minutes, drains the water, pauses for 2 minutes before getting to the main part of the wash cycle.

@@TheWASHINGMACHINEBOY Super Wash is for very dirty items, heavy soil such as from garden work. The first 2-min pause at 10:04 is to allow heavy soil to settle to the bottom of the outer tub for draining away. The drain after the initial wash is not a full drain, it's partial, to the point of the water level pressure switch reset to flush the heavy soil. The pause that follows is for the mechanical timer to run out the remainder of the 2-min increment.

Some had it only on Normal, some on both Normal and Perm Press. There were some lower models that had it in the 1960s when it was a new feature.
