He's into the song for the sake of the song. There's no such thing as KZbin, TikTok, or social media then. And though television had exploded and 9 out of 10 households had a tv set, there was no such thing as re-runs, so even if a show was on TV, if you were not watching it at the time of it being live on TV, you were not going to see it later on KZbin, or some other outlet. So who was Billy Strange performing for at this moment? Its that particular crowd, that crowd is who hes performing the song for. He's into the crowd and the crowd into him.

You know I never looked at it that way but in my opinion you are absolutely right. He’s doing it for those folks immediately around him. I’ll have to remember that when watching these old films with small audiences. Thank you for watching
