I thought you'd like a look at this very clean 1964 Pontiac Tempest. This is a great example of Pontiac muscle that has been frame off restored and modified just enough to make it exciting! It's decked out in white paint with a red vinyl interior and factory steel wheels with correct hubcaps for a classic Pontiac look, but wait until you open up the hood. There you will find a completely rebuilt Pontiac 455 CID V8 complete with roller rockers, HO exhaust manifolds, Edelbrock 4 barrel carburetor, Edelbrock Pontiac Torker II aluminum intake, Mallory Hy Fire electronic ignition, and a 4 core radiator. The transmission is a rebuilt Turbo 350 Automatic with a 2500 stall, and all of this is run through a Ford 9" posi rear end with 3.73 gears. There's plenty of power to spare in this beast! Other options include hub caps, red line radial tires, factory style wheels, power steering, seat belts, bucket seats, and an in dash tachometer. Thanks for taking a look!

This really is my type of car too. I like that it has an almost completely stock appearance, but it's packing so much more power.

This one just breaks my heart!! One of the things I like the most about Pontiacs, is the outside dimensions of all their V8's are the same. 326-455ci. Pretty much a bolt in. Beautiful car!

The largest motor they ever put in a Tempest from the factory was the the 400 V8. The largest engine that Pontiac ever built was the 455, which is what you see in this car.

I had a similar 64 Tempest. First I added a 3 deuce manifold which ran like crap, especially with the 2 speed Powerslide (powerglide). I finally got a wrecked Pontiac with 421 and 4 sped with tripower. I transplanted it all in the "326" and changed the rear gear (I can't remember the ratio but it was lower than what was in it). I trimmed the dash in vinyl wood grain shelf paper for that luxury look (lol). With bench seat, no console, and steel wheels, this was a rear tire burner. I later put a 4bbl intake and told everyone it was a 326, which I couldn't do with 3 deuces. Everyone knew it was a 389 or 421. Sadly I got rid of the car when it suffered a burnt valve and needed the oil pump replaced. Wish I still had it!. At 17, this was a heck of a ride.

Yep, I like this one a lot too. Kind of plain jane on the outside and a beast under the hood. When you look at it, you'd never guess it would have a stall converter and a Ford 9" out back.

I agree completely, this one caught my attention right away. It's built just the way I would've done it too. It looks stock on the outside, but then has all that power under the hood and a 9" in the back. It really is an awesome car. Thanks for checking it out!

You're right, you can definitely see the family resemblance between all of them. I really like this car a lot. I like the stock appearance mixed with all that power under the hood. Thanks for checking it out!

He said at the beginning that this was a bit of a hotrod, which is reflected in the fact that it has the 455 V8, which is fine unless you are a purist (and that is fine too!), and had to have an original 389 which was not even available in the Tempest line but of course was in the GTO for the model year 1964-66, followed by the 400 from 67-69 model years and then came the 455 in 1970 model year. The price seemed about right for the cleanliness if it drove and handled as good as it looks. The painted wheels and lug nut covers do indeed set the car off and give it a clean look---a bit of sleeper look. Clean, clean looking machine. Of course Pontiac did not really have a heavy duty automatic until 1967 model year (Mopar back in 61 model year and Ford in 65 model year) but still a respectable machine.

Are you SERIOUS?! My mouth is still wide open catching flies. Holy shit Jeff what a beauty why is he giving this away? I thought for sure the price would be double that. It's very rare and the right everything. Well, black would be nice but white is cool. OMG Jeff get it for me and well be friends for life ;)))

I like that someone didn't molest a GTO. This looks fantastic and you don't ruin the value by updating the brakes or installing a T56. With over 500 lb/ft of torque, that 9" rear is a nice touch too.

This must have been a Tempest custom because I had a 1964 Tempest (basic) for 16 years, '66 to '82, that didn't have any of these features. It got vandalized & I had to junk it. I still miss it to this day!

From Wikipedia: Despite sharing some of the Oldsmobile's sheet metal, the original Tempest featured an innovative drivetrain - a rear-mounted transaxle[2] coupled to a torque shaft arcing in a 3 in (76 mm) downward bow within a longitudinal tunnel - coupling the forward engine and rear transmission into one unit and eliminating vibration

This sounds very healthy but there's a couple more of Pontiac's engines I'd like to see here if possible. 1. The 421 Royal BobCat. 2. The 1969 428 Pontiac, I'm not sure of the code (I can't remember it really), it had 2 1/2 in. Exhaust pipes from the factory. I had a 1969 Pontiac Bonneville Brougham, 2 Dr. complete with factory fender skirts too. Wish I would have kept it. Really enjoyed your video, it brought back some great memories from the 50s and 60s. Thank's for sharing.
