Whenever I see a white color exterior vehicle, looks boring. And yet, I was astonished viewing your vintage Porsche 356c with a green interior is absolutely incredible! The colors correspond harmoniously. Looking at the dashboard reminds me of a vintage plane cockpit, immaculate.

Great video as always and greatly appreciate the vehicles you choose to review. Back in high school in the 80s, I graduated in 87, my chemistry teacher Dr. Park drove a red on black 1963 Porsche 356 coupe that had bought new. I still feel the only reason I passed his class was we both had a love for Porsches and could share our knowledge with each other.

My father-in-law has a 1957 convertible 356. I would say it is almost a daily driver in decent weather. The kid seats are just about ok for our kids, just enough to get to the local coffee shop in the morning when they go to visit. My older daughter just loves it, especially the smell. She has my genes, loves the smell of petrol!!

My late father bought a 1957 Red 356 coupe, about 1962? I was like 11, so I never got to drive it. He traded it for a 1965 Buick le Sabre, which still breaks my heart! Today: Sabre - $10,000 Porsche: $80,000 +! He said, "At the time, it was just another old car." Thanks, Dad. Thanks.

I had a 59 A 1600S way back. Rust due to the heater running through the side panel was always an issue. The swing axles kept me on my toes. 75 hp was just fine. The shift lever felt very VW-ish. The doors clicked shut. No reason to slam them. Mine was lowered an de-cambered 1 1/2degrees at the rear. I had a Bursch exhaust system. Handled well. The 917 was racing in Europe at the time and the IROC Porsches were racing stateside. Fun times.

Back in the day, I really enjoyed playing Need for Speed Porsche Unleashed, and the 356 was always one of my favorite cars in the game! This video brings back some memories… and I’m surprised at how accurate they were able to get the engine sound in the game.
@mrvwbug44232 жыл бұрын
That motor sound brings back memories. I could never afford a 356, but I did have a hopped up beetle when I was in my 20s and I still remember that induction growl of the dual carbs when you got on it. And even with only 95hp or so (about what mine had) the cars are so light that they are genuinely quick even by modern standards.

My first Porsche was a 1965 356SC with a carry rack over the engine bay I was surprised to find it would do 115 and still feel stable. I still had the gas tank in the trunk. this meant stopping for gas I had to remove some things from the trunk to reach the tank cap. I lived in Hyattsville Maryland while do the METRO system in DC. The Porsche dealer helped update from 1600cc to 1800 with piston I got from VW& Porsche magazine, and my car had dull stacked Webber carburetors. I loved that car of course I grew up and learned to drive in VW Bettle. It was 1976 when I had it.

The sound of that engine! Re shift throw - I had a '59 Ghia I took to college. There was a gizmo you could add to the shift lever that would reduce the lever movement by maybe 50%? It shifted like a sports car. Haven't thought of that in decades!

Such an elegant car, especially the gauges! (I wish current cars would take more inspiration of these classics). And i can fully relate to the part with the beach. Having been on a beach vacation once in my life at age 18, that confirmed to me that i prefer mountains to hike and mountain roads to drive here in the alps. I used to own and work on older beetles (and buses and type 4's) back in the 70's, and now I own a '63 356 restored and now with a Willhoit 2.2L engine. The stock 356 has a distinct sound and purr that really is so much nicer than the Beetle. The Porsche engines were really engineered to a higher degree and have an easy time getting up to higher RPM and you really notice the torque and power. Now with the Willhoit 2.2, the engine dyno'd at about 155HP, and along with some suspension modifications this is hands down the most fun you can possibly have driving an automobile.
