I got a 63 Riviera when I was 15,that my Dad got me,because he had a 63 and I still have it,I'm 29 now and it's an a/c car,401 nailhead engine. The car is so unique from the body to the way the engine looks, with the special valve covers. At the time,15 years ago, there were only a few to find on the internet, over the years I started to see them show up more online and in the magazines. My Dad and I would go to the car shows on a Friday, burning the tires up and down the blvd and people just would go nuts over the 63 Rivi,we had blue lights on ours,it was badass! Due to financial situations I kept putting it off over the years but I will be restoring mine soon. There's so much chrome on these cars, that the rechroming cost would put you into debt. I can restore all my body back to original,I been a body man since I was a teenager.

Yes, he knows it's a 65. LOL. I had a blue 64 with primer sprayed over it when I was a kid. Should have kept that. This is probably the prettiest 65 I've seen. It looks so hot with those wheels up inside the body like that. Congratulations.

this particular model that came out in '65, was the coolest in the riviera line. top 1 in my dream cars list, the chief designer figured out to make the hidden headlights 2 years late. If the clam shell headlights design was incorporated in '63 it would have been the bomb! together with the cool side scoops and '65's tail lights on the rear bumper.. what an awesome build.

I must admit I'm a Buick guy, first car was a 68 Riviera, 71 Skylark, few SS (70-72) Chevelles, 70 Monte Carlo SS, 70 Buick GSX (car #125) currently still have my college car, a 68 six cylinder Skylark, 47 Buick Sedanett 50 Series, and a 96 Impala SS. Keep the videos coming, reminding us all of the great memories of "the good ol days". Now, just throwing this out there, how bout giving away a custom car to one of your lucky subscribers? The front end of the Riviera looks really bad boy. I like the centre console design going through to the back. It's very well time-travelled. The door linings are really sweet. I take it the rear seat tubs are thin due to the big ass wheels in the back and the fuel tank was moved for that purpose?

I wanted to see the lights behind the clam shell covers. btw Buick wanted to make this car perfect for the fit and trim pieces. So they had the door shells paired to the body as it was in the spot welding Jig to line them up exactly and then let the workers go at it to weld the body section in place . Those doors followed that car to be painted and assembled . Just look close at the trim on the window sill that matches the rear piece passenger window sill. The body is perfect as you look down from the front fender. Buick didn't want a 2 door hardtop to have bad gap or misaligned door with the windows down . The 63 Riv was the first Production car from Detroit in the post war era with a near flush rear window to follow the body flow. This 65 is what the Proto type show car was like with those light covers, but to mass produce them took Buick time to engineer how they worked and what the freezing rain and snow would do to them . I'm pretty sure I read how the default position is ' Open ' so in the event of failure , the owner can open the hood to undo a retainer rod or spring and pull the shells open to stay there until repaired.

Back in 1973 I had a 1964 Riviera, it was a pale yellow w/ white interior and the big nail head, I wish I still had it but it was a very expensive car to own even in 1973. The factory muffler in 73 was priced at 150.00 and it really sucked the gas. For two teenage newly weds this car cost to much to maintain and we had to sell it.
