Just so you know, Jay..... the C10 was a 1/2 ton truck, C20 was a 3/4 ton truck and a C30 was a 1 ton truck. These were known as light duty trucks. After that there were the medium duty trucks C50 and C60. I'm pretty sure there wasn't a C40 truck designation.

Also C25. It’s a 3/4 ton truck with coil springs and half leaf springs making it fall between 3/4 and 1 ton trucks. The C25 was used on the custom camper special trucks. Mine is a 66. Not sure if the earlier years were also C25’s but 66 was. The custom camper also came with a 327 engine option and 400 turbo transmission. You rarely see PRND21 on the 60-66 trucks. They were usually a manual tranny or power glide. Also came with a 4.11 Dana 60 posi rear end. So dodge and Jeep weren’t the only brands to get Dana s

I had a customer that had a 1965 C20 which had a 327 V8 with a 4 barrel carb and I'll guarantee you that it didn't have 10.25:1 compression ratio. It ran on regular fuel and you don't do that with that kind of compression. These had truck engines, not Corvette engines. It also had a 3-speed TH400 automatic. Maybe it was a later in the model year offering. I've seen plenty of 1965 & 1966 with Powerglides. Even the next body style 1967-1970 with Powerglides. It's funny, being that this bodystyle started with the 1960 model year and the roofline reminded me of the 1959-1960 flat tops. My grandfather had a 1960 Chevy C10 Stepside with 6 cyl. and 3-speed standard transmission. That little engine had lot's of power as my grandparents hauled around a 25 foot house trailer. It had no problem hauling that trailer from the flatlands to Sequoia National Park.

Unless that truck was a camper special or that 327 was put in later, that was a 283 because you couldn't get a 327 in a truck in '65 unless you got the camper special. In '66, however, it became available for everything.
@automatedelectronics6062
@automatedelectronics6062 Жыл бұрын
@@josephg41 The truck my customer had was definitely not a camper special, it was a C20 with a wood-insert bed. It also had a TH400 automatic. 1965 was the first year you could get the TH400 in a Chevy. Most trucks still used the PowerGlide into the next body style. In a 1965 Chevy passenger car, to get the TH400 you usually had to have the mid-year 396 V8, although another customer had a 1965 Caprice with a 327 4 barrel and it had a TH400 automatic. I didn't think that the Caprice came out until 1966, but this 1965 Caprice had the 1965 features and the VIN number and ID tad confirmed it.

Just wanted to mention a couple items. Someone below already corrected you on C10, C20, C30 etc. The duel master cylinder was stock starting in 1960. One cylinder was for brakes and the other was for hydraulic clutch. Someone mentioned below about how bad the rear coil springs were on the C10, and he was right. But, you can get stiffer aftermarket springs that work or even add air bags. The stock heater system in these trucks are fantastic!! My 1960 Chevy Apache step side is an upgraded version with two sun visors, radio, throttle knob, actual temp gage instead of idiot light, some extra chrome, etc. The truck you were looking at was a VERY base model.

The 1960 to 1962 was a dual master cylinder. One side for the brakes and the other the clutch.One reservoir for both.In 1963 They dropped the torsion bar suspension went to a ladder type frame and dropped the XBox frame .Also went bsck to manual clutch. It remained a single cylinder brake master with one reservoir for both the front and back brakes. Not sure what they did in 1967? Hydraulic clutch and torsion bar suspension didn't return till the 80s

I do like the look of these models of Chevy trucks. I don't think I've ever ridden in one and I don't remember seeing a whole lot of them except maybe when I was very young in the early '70s, but I think they have such a distinctive look and with the thick edges of the metal on the roof in the hood that looked tough and strong to me, and the color on that one is really cool 😎 as well as the ones in the ads.

Normally I am not a huge fan of pickups because they’er often too big, fuel thirsty, and overpriced. However I have a special place in my heart for the older ones of the 50s and 60s. I had a friend who had a sleeper-modified 53 Ford pickup with faded metallic paint and original wheels (and unfortunately brakes) but with a huge, bored out engine with a racing 4 speed automatic under the hood. My boss for a college job had a 64 Chevy with another oversized engine with a 3 on a tree column shift with a linkage that was gerry-rigged with coat hanger wire. The latter truck was a hoot to drive except for the fact that the gear selector either was stuck only having second gear or first and third gears for the cobbled together linkage was finicky. And another problem was that aside from the ignition and starter, there was no electricity to the brake lights or turn signals, for someone had shoved their foot hard into the wiring harness in a panic stop! The best thing about the old trucks were that they were good old girls that were simple, reliable, and got the job done… even if it was with a few coat hanger wires, and driving the back streets with no lights and signals!

I found a body shop to do the Karman Ghia for 2500 but that was after looking for a long time somebody wanted 15 grand just to spray it.. That is the biggest thing about living here that sucks no one paints cars anymore the best way to get it done is they have an insurance claim because that is the only way that you can get a car painted in western Pennsylvania generally have to go to Ohio not to pay an arm and a leg..

I have a 52 Chevy 1 ton, I wanted a machine I wanted a truck, people buy trucks now to make up for the size of something else and don’t ever use them for their intended purpose.. that’s why we have trucks like the maverick (not downing it I reviewed one they are cool) I shot is this versus that episode involving my 52 Chevy 1 ton trucks versus my father-in-law‘s GMC 1 ton Dinali.. hoping this week sometime to put that together I didn’t go in depth with his as much as I generally do because I could literally talk about every single button that truck has his truck has more lights and the Christmas tree.. but cost $100k mine cost less than $10k but does that mean that my truck is inferior I’m pretty sure I have to look it up but I’m pretty sure that my truck is rated to haul more in the bed than his bed his can pull more. But I don’t have a trailer it’s going to be an interesting episode it’s probably gonna be titled non-comparison comparison.. I’m going outside the box thinker and that is an outside the box episode
