Great job Pete. Pan looks good. I still use the Type F in my older gm turbo transmissions as well for crispier shifts. I was wondering when we would see the next video. It seems like its been a while. Hope all is well and youve been able to enjoy taking the mustang out to some cruise nights during these trying times. Thanks to your timely responses to a few questions i had via text, I was able to finish my 68 camaro and have been able to get to a few cruise nights here in the chicagoland area. Stay safe and healthy my friend!

That's awesome, thanks Mark. I went on vacation and took some time off, but I'm back to making videos

I just inherited a 65 mustang with the stock 200 straight 6. Runs good but looking to get it back in tune, maybe do a rebuild. Love that I found this channel!

Pete, when your servicing the transmission do you ever drain the torque converter also. If not how often would you recommend draining the Torque converter?

I so when I'm changing the fluid, but the fluid was changed recently so I din't on this one

Was that oil coming out the vacuum line for the modulator? Is that why you changed it? Happy Monday.
@PetesGarage4 жыл бұрын
Yes it was. It shifts much better with the new modulator

Is it better to use a gasket sealer with the gasket or use the gasket on it’s own. Changing my filter on my c6 transmission tomorrow? Thank s again glad your back.
@PetesGarage4 жыл бұрын
I just use the gasket, it's not under pressure

I have a C4 transmission that doesn't have a third gear. I replaced the modulator and turned the adjustment in quite a bit. This transmission is supposed to work but I've been stuck with it like this for a while.

Could be a clogged hydraulic passage

@Todd Orton it's isn't a super early one. It has the bolt on regulator and not the screw in type. 78 I think

@Todd Orton would a flush clear it? I have an aod I might just replace it with.

Should the bolts be torqued in a certain sequence for either the filter or the cover?
@PetesGarage4 жыл бұрын
Not really because the filter is metal to metal and the pan gasket is not under pressure, but it wouldn't hurt

I bought some of that Permatex spray gasket adhesive to try instead of squeezing goop out of a tube. Any feedback here?
@PetesGarage4 жыл бұрын
That does work well on certain gaskets.

Hey Pete. Question: How does having too much fluid affect the performance of the transmission? I have a 65 Ford and the dipstick reads over full. Sometimes it hesitates shifting from 2nd to 3rd when under slight load and I have to back off the throttle to get it to shift. Any thoughts?
@PetesGarage4 жыл бұрын
Yes it can. Too full can cause higher pressures and shifting problems

What about the torque converter?
@PetesGarage4 жыл бұрын
It does hold quite a bit of fluid

No Gasket?

There should be a rubber gasket, probably can't see it.
@PetesGarage4 жыл бұрын
There is a gasket on the pan, that's what's holding the bolts in
