Was so pleased you did the repair in several pieces. Dont try and be a master metal worker trying to do it in one piece. Simplify the process by using several pieces to complete complex shapes. Saves time and headaches. Plus this project isnt a show car. Well done keep the videos coming your welding skills are coming along great 🤗🤗🤗👍👍👍

You're really getting the hang of this. If it were me, I'd paint the interior, and leave patina on the exterior only, but that's just me.

I grew up on 1968 Volkswagens and my Dad was a tool and die maker. We spent many hours fixing these babies! I kept mine until inevitably a hole would form near my left foot, allowing water and slush to hit me in the face when I drove. Your vid’s are bringing back some wonderful memories!

What you are doing with what you have is just amazing and I am very excited to see the end results! You have a lot of patience and talent? My 65 is no where close to the shape of yours I was lucky to be able to find one that is in very good shape and I bought it and the body was so nice and straight, I paid $3,600 for a perfect undercarriage that was done all new everything and painted and clear coated and the body was sitting on sawhorses,no engine but that’s okay and a truck load of new parts to do the job? But it’s still nice to see your work and it’s a lot, anyway you’re doing a great job!

Watching your fabricating skills get better literally every clip is inspiring, awesome job! In my humble opinion, it would be best to paint the entire interior while everything is out. That gives you the option to either paint or clear coat the outside at a later time without disturbing the interior. All the best and keep on the righteous path forward!

Great job. I probably would have did a full bend on the bottom to an L...then on the backside where the metal reached the new cross member I would have done an L bend there too. which would have made it easier to weld and grind. But it is fine it will be strong and last the way you did it. No worries you cant even see it once the seat is in there anyway.

Maybe it's just me that thinks of this guy as the British CT - taking a car that was beyond repair back to it's former glory. Check out the welding - it's not perfect but it isn't far off and it is quite impressive. Good to see you still working on this. Remember that a digital caliper could be used to check the thickness of the metal you're welding to, if it's thin anticipate blow through or warping....

Hey CT, absolutely loving this series mate, you're doing a cracking job. You've inspired me a heap with my latest restoration on a 1987 FJ62 Land Cruiser, and helped give me the courage to do a full roof replacement as well as many other complex repairs (by no means as challenging as what you're undertaking). Very much looking forward to your next episode. Many thanks from Australia!! :D

Congratulations on your work. I can't wait for the final result. I watch and review your videos. As they say here in Brazil...show de bola. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

Here is the translation from Portuguese to English: "It's not just a restoration, it's more than that, the making of these patches is something that amazes me. Very well prepared, in fact it is a reconstruction, after all CT, who saw the beetle the first time, would never imagine how it is turning out. It will become a relic. Congratulations on your work. I can't wait for the final result. I watch and review your videos. As they say here in Brazil...ball show" The word, "relíquia," translates to "relic' but also translates to "heirloom."

You should always have a little space/gap between the two metal surfaces when you weld, it makes a stronger weld for it puts a weld behind the gap as well as in the front. This is very important if you are going to ground down the weld on the front of the metal.

You like what you are doing and share it with us which makes it worth watching. I think it's time to get a "CT" design logo to help brand you channel. You need to cover the steel to protect what you have done and seal that with something to last.

Its possible to install a modern water-cooled VW 2.0 engine in the rear. But you have to lengthen the body to accommodate it. A front and rear suspension upgrade with disc brakes can be installed on the chassis. Then one is thinking of the VW Beetle Traha from Robert Design, superb work done on it by Henrique Cavalho in Brazil! A renovation of the classic Beetle is limited only by one’s imagination.
