I had a 66 Riviera when a kid, had the 425 cubic inch with single Rochester quadrajet, bucket seats with floor shifter turbo-hydramatic 400. Made big power and plenty fast for a heavy car. Liked to break those constant velocity u-joints on the drive shaft!

Hi Jeff , just wanted to say I have always thought GM hit it out of the park with that series of Rivieras . I still remember the first one I ever saw in 1963 and I thought what a cool car ! To me style wise it was light years ahead of the others of that era . Thanks again for taking us gearheads along . Take care as always . Larry

I agree completely, I love all the 60's Riviera's, each for different reasons. They really are impressive cars. Thanks for taking a look my friend!
@jeffreynolds38485 жыл бұрын
RA, or can I say Jeff - it’s Jeff. Lovely car and lovely post, esp. the camerawork. These 60’s car really do speak for themselves, don’t they? This is the second time I’ve heard you use this music at the end during the stills review - I like it. There’s a noticeable increase in the overall refinement of your content. I’d encourage you to continue to play it cool and let the image(s) speak for itself, especially with the quality of the subject matter that you choose, and use voice to add to what we can already see. PS - I’ve got a soft spot for the boat tail, only because where I was staying in the autumn of ‘78, I’d regularly find my hosts friend had nosed his dark green Riviera around the side of the house. Seeing the back end of that back end reveal itself in the evening light as I walked up the street to the house is something that lives with me to this day when I think of this kind of big, powerful, stylish car of this era.

This is a beautiful automobile just as its stablemate the Olds Toronado. This car has the turbo hydramatic transmission that it shared with the rest of the GM lineup. What a great automobile, I was a senior in high school when this car was introduced and remember it and the prior generation well. Of course we all wanted GTOs and 442s but the grownups wanted Starfires and Rivieras.

Always liked the Riviera body style from 63 through the land yachts of the seventies. That one is priced right. But the nail head sure is a gas hungry engine. Lol. Thanks for sharing again.

Oh yeah, it'll burn through some gas :) It sure is a comfortable cruiser though. Thanks for taking a look Dale!

A beautiful Riviera! This car is styled very similarly to the Toronado, even though they are completely different. The Riviera is rear wheel drive and the Toronado is front wheel drive!

Yeah, and this is pretty much the king of the Nailheads. They had a version of this engine with dual quads, but other than that, this is the top. 340 HP and 465 Lb-ft.

67 is one of my favorite years from the Riviera and some believe engine wise the 425 was better than the 430. What are your thoughts on that Jeff?
@RamblinAround5 жыл бұрын
That's a tough question to answer, but I think I'd take the 425. It has a stronger block & bottom end, and it has superior oiling. They made their torque very immediately at lower RPM too. The 430 heads flowed better up top, so it might dyno more, but I think the 425 would beat it from stoplight to stoplight.
@canibusnj5 жыл бұрын
@@RamblinAround Right, I thought it was close, but the 425 still comes out on top.
