I am so thankful to the bass player in my older brother's band way back in 1965 when I was 13 years old. He had a 1962 Fender Jazz Bass and a Bassman piggyback amp. He went to Manny's Music in NYC and bought a Gibson EBO and a bigger amp. I got the 62 Jazz and the Bassman for $375 in 1965 but had to deliver newspapers for the next year and a half to pay for it, I have owned an EBO, EB3, Ripper and they all were not very good and had a tendency to have the headstocks snap off. A shame Gibson never made great basses when they produce some fine guitars.

My first bass was a '67 EBO. $100 from a pawnshop in 1987. I was 9 and played that bass all the way into college, though I saved up and bought a Yamaha when I was 14. That EBO is the one bass I regret selling!
