My dad bought one of these new in Jan 66. Same a Dynamic 88 four door hardtop except ours was a color called Sierra Mist a tan metals color. It was a great riding and looking highway cruiser

Oldsmobile of the 60’s were unbeatable. Solid, style, rocket engines with high compression and the sound was unmistakably Oldsmobile. Smooth cars.

I inherited my father's 1965 dynamic 88 4 dr. It needs a ton of work. It hasn't ran in about 40 years. I'm no mechanic but it will get there. Hopefully

Where have those '65-'66 Oldses gone? Ah, they are out there! I love that dash! And I love to take one of those out on the highway, pull up next to one of those rice burners, and say, "HERE is a REAL car!!!"

My dad nearly bought a '68 Olds Cutlass, but opted instead for the Pontiac LeMans. I think my mom liked the Pontiac more. In any case, it was sad when the General shuttered Olds, I always did like their car line. Oh well.

My very first can was a 1966 Teal Olds Dynamic '88 hard top 4 door sedan with the 425 Super Rocket. My old man had no clue what he had done when he signed the title for me. I saved for 6 months to buy that car. It was owned by one of my friends next door neighbor's whose son previously owned it. His son gave his life for his country in Vietnam and he just wanted to get rid of it. I flipped a lot of burgers and filtered many deep fat fryer vats to save the $300.00 to buy it. I Lit the tires up one night on a country road @ 16 with my buddies. One of the guys got out of the car after I came to a stop he went to the rear and touched one of the tires. He carries a black mark on his fingertip to this day as a reminder of his foolishness. I used to love taking my girlfriend to the drive-in theater on Fri. nights with it and going to the root beer stand to hang out with our friends. A real cruisin' vessel. I was too young to appreciate it for what it would become. I ran the heck out of it before I graduated and it became a winter car for several years after I began college. Man what memories.

Had the identical car minus A/C. I miss that acceleration @:38. Front seat wore out and my father and took a leather seat out of a Caddy and bolted it in. My '66 started to smoke, I thought I knew which cylinder, put a new piston in, (without removing the engine) and still smoked after that. Sold it for $75 with four new Belted H14s :(

My girlfriend's grandfather has a 1966 Oldsmobile Dynamic 88 as well. He claims his has a 455 in it. However, according to my research, the 455 didn't come out until '68. Is my research wrong? I mean it's possible that he swapped it out for a 455..

my dad had the 1966 Dynamic 88 and it had a 425 cid. he traded in on a 1968 88 with a 455 cid.

Correct 455 was not available until 1968. Sometimes people would say 455 because they looked the same outside And lots were swapped out for 455 because they were still available new Swap means not out a car as long
