Very good video! I’ve been toying with the idea of straight axel my 66 to get rid of the reduction boxes, so your videos are a big help. Thanks
@RodsVWGarage3 жыл бұрын
Yes straight axle it is, I will set that up as soon as I paint the undercarriage!

Also does it matter which upper and lower control arms I use ?? I have to be sure depending on the spindles I’m using correct??

As long as they fit your application you are good.

Boricua! This is Sam from Florida. I have a question. Do you know what needs to be done to fit a 63 king pins to 64 spindles. I have a 63 double cab and running in to problems to install the Porsche brakes. Gracias.
@RodsVWGarage2 жыл бұрын
Yes you need a later spindle 64-67, and I’m sure it will fit the pins.

Rod Nice Video man! Did you use a stick welder to weld that strengthening plate in or a 240 MiG? Keep up the great videos! Should have my rear IRS conversion up in a video once I can get to working on it. Love these old buses!! Cheers!

Thanks, mig 240, when you get a chance post some pictures of your project! Good luck

Great video. Thanks! Isn't flipped spindles a 3 1/2" drop? With your weld-in adjusters, how low are you going on this bus?
@RodsVWGarage2 жыл бұрын
Maybe 6 inches total, but that is resting on the fender with the current wheels!

did you have any issues with brake hose fitting hitting the upper dome ? My bus came with flipped spindles and that hose sprung a leak, it was old, and cracked all over. But to get it out, It was hitting that dome and I had to cut it,...twice. Now the new hose is like the old one interms of thread and length, but I cannot seem to get it to screw in. How did you avoid that ?
@RodsVWGarageАй бұрын
I’m sorry to hear that, mine never hit or rub on anything and I had running it for two years !

Where are you getting the seals?
@RodsVWGarage2 жыл бұрын
Which seals are you referring too? If you are referring to the transaxle seal, I always get the cheapest!
