HalleluYah!!! Brings back childhood memories. I was ten yrs old in '68 and my dad bought this brand new the philippines. Too bad we have to sell this beauty early in the 1990s. It was very sad to see the car go. It rides better than most modern cars as long as you give it the loving tender care that anyone or anything that needs one's attention. Thank God Almighty for giving us this blessing of having one one. God bless everyone.

In the days before electric pumps, Volkswagens of this era used air pressure from the spare tire to operate the windshield washer! There was a tube that ran from the washer reservoir and was connected to the spare tire's valve. Needless to say, the spare had to have adequate pressure for the windshield washer to operate.

Ich such..in America.Mein Eltern kauft en 65 Variant S wagen in Bamberg. Mein Vater war ein Americanism Soldat. Das Auto get mit uns Zurich mach America in 66. In 68, Ich fahrte es such fur mine fahren papieren. Mein Vater hat ein unfall in das Auto in 69 es war Ganz kaput..tot..leider..Ich mochte nich ein anderes. Ich bin nicht Deutsch und es ist she vielen Jahre virbei. Ich war ,zuruck in Deutschland in 92 zu besuch. Ich sah wenige alte Autos und nur EIN Type 3 wagen wahrend 2 wochen..UND Nur ein type 1 und Keine type 2. Ich sah Kevin autos von die sibziche Jahre. Jehmann fahrtet neue Autos.

Had a 73 Squareback. Never gave the fuel tank placement a second thought. No worse than the Pinto rear placement. Dont think VW was ever sued over it.
