William Conrad does the voice over in this Chrysler 300 commercial. This isn't a letter series car, but it's still one of "The Beautiful Brutes".

My airline-captain neighbor had one of these when I was a kid. Magnificent, brutally powerful car. We used to marvel at the huge air cleaner that said "TNT 440" on the top.

My first car was a 66. What's not mentioned in the add was the 440 tnt wasn't the only engine option. My car had the 440 police interceptor motor that had another 10-20 hp, with a noticeable bit of cam lope. The air cleaner was flat black with dual snorkels but, taller than the TNT with it's orange/black stickers. My Dad thought it was a 383, and allowed me to buy it. The car was stored for a decade so I was in the process of replacing parts I knew would fail due to sitting idle and miles on the car. The master cylinder, water pump and distributor and found the parts didn't match up. I took the distributor back to the parts house and found out why. They had that option up till 68 or so when Chrysler became more streamline with option packages, according my mechanic at the time, they eliminated it to the general public. I owned the car in the early 80's as the second owner. It could bust the tires loose, through all gears, during acceleration. The 66 and 67 equipped with the 440 should be consider letter series, as the 68-72 were nothing but rebadged New Yorkers. But sadly, they will never get that respect. And, I don't get it. There is a huge price difference between a 318 to a 383 Dodge Dart!!! And, the 300 was still one of the fastest cars on the road for it's time! The 66-58 300's are the Rodney Dangerfield of the automotive world: No respect.

I even had the non high performance 440,the 350 hp version with the factory 595 tiny Holley 4bbl..and in the late 80's early 90's I always beat the new Corvettes,Mustang 5.0 and any trans Am/Camaro Z28,Iroc Z etc.. It even beat my buddies 68 396 Chevelle the 350 hp version and beats a 72 455 GTO.. My 67 300 was bone stock 4 door hardtop and 131,000 miles!! I sold it and bought a 1968 2 door hardtop with a 440 TNT (lots of regular 440's most were) and still have that 1968 today and it was even quicker than the 1967 4 door 350 hp 595 holley 4bbl Chrysler 300..that was one of the quickest cars on the road...I did lose to a 440 6bbl Cuda,440 Charger RT,1970 Olds 442 with a 455 but was on his tail about 2 cars back..Hell ym 4 door was bone stock 595 holley 4bbl,2.94 sure grip rear end and single exhaust!

@@OsbornTramain True. But, he also did the narration of many episodes of "Rocky and his Friends," and he also starred as "Nero Wolfe" (the 1981 TV series) , and was Matt Dillon on the radio version of "Gunsmoke"...plus several other commercials, TV series and films. BTW, "Cannon" began in 1971.

The Sands is proud to present a wonderful new show! A man and his music! The music of Count Basie and his great band! (band vamps, Count hits one key at the end) And the man is Frank Sinatra! (That, folks, is my favorite narration from Mr. Conrad. No car commercial comes close.)

They did that music segue on purpose so you can sing the jingle. "Take charge, move up to a Chrysler."

Special order 426 hemi was available with 4 speed that's What grandfather order in late 67 Dark Blue today as of July 4th last trip it has 38,000 original miles
@1983jblack2 ай бұрын
If your grandfather has a 426 Hemi in a Chrysler 300, it's 1 of 1 because the 426 Hemi was never an option for the 300. Plus, I'd wanna see the window sticker signifying it (I'd bet if it is indeed legitimate, it was a dealer installed option that they ordered)

This must be a very late '67, because it already has the headrest, which became government mandatory in '68.
@OsbornTramain3 жыл бұрын
It was an option before it was manditory
@rong41893 жыл бұрын
I don’t think it was mandatory until sometime in ‘69. My ‘69 Barracuda doesn’t have them, my ‘69 Charger did.

I think that’s Lorne Greene’s voice. Ben Cartwright, from Bonanza.
@OsbornTramain3 жыл бұрын
No, Lorne Greene was the Star of Bonanza which was sponsored by Chevy. He was featured in numerous Chevy Commercials and Promotions. William Conrad is the voice here and had done Chrysler Voice Overs for several years before he went on to star in Cannon.
