1980 was a busy year for William Conrad. In addition to NBC's Nero Wolfe, he also voiced the title role of the Lone Ranger in one-half of CBS' The Tarzan/Lone Ranger Adventure Hour, produced by Filmation!!!

I agree. He was a class act. Loved him in Cannon. He was a great actor and championed the down & out always trying to help others no matter the cost. I watched Cannon as a kid and now I am revisiting these old shows on #metv Very enjoyable and I love these retro tv shows, at least some of them. Some surprisingly good episodes! He really did a great job. At the end of the day, he was a great man, Mum just loved him too and that for me says it all! He really was just a great man and actor as my Mum had morals and class which were passed along to me RIP

@@BrianCarnevaleB26 ha ha I’m from California but “me Mum” was from Essex - Yanks have “Moms” - also Ol Willy Conrad was given one of two Lead covered Maltese falcon’s from Jack Warner - found after he passed and sadly Ytube has been pulling all of these classic’s because of copyright rules.

And much of seasons 4 and 5. Think he 'outgrew' the zippered blue jacket he also wore.

Why did he change his birth name?

Actors always do that sometimes there was someone named the same and you need unique name and sometimes it's agents who think it sounds better btw. "Cannon" was a nod to his real last name (Cann).
