1967 Dodge Dart 270 in White & 273 Engine Sound on My Car Story with Lou Costabile

On "My Car Story" we're at the Carlisle Events in Carlisle PA on 7-13-18.
We're looking at a 1967 Dodge Dart 270 in White Paint. The car comes with the factory 273 CI engine.
The car's Owner is Steve Szabadics. Steve’s had this car since 2012. He shares his first car was a 1966 Dodge Dart so he wanted another one so he could relive his childhood.

This is my husband's car. Sadly, he passed away recently, and I was not aware of this video. Being able to see him healthy and happy brings tears to my eyes. We miss him terribly. You see so many Darts of this era in various stages of restoration but seldomly see them in this condition (especially with the 4-barrel 273 with factory air). Who would ever think we would be appreciative of a Dodge Dart! Boy, how things change.

That car is just like one I bought from my grandmother when I was 22. Hers was a GT and had a perfect white bucket seat interior. Those 273 high performance motors had solid lifters from the factory! That car would scream. I would love to have it now .

Nice Dodge. Much roomier in the trunk n interior than I'd expected. The seats look way roomy. Another one with a great lookin engine. Very deep satisfying sound. My favorite part of the this Dart is the moon hubs, they kinda look like big balls, like those reflective ones in gardens. Very cool! Love the vid, thanks

I remember being in 7th grade when this car came out and my Earth Science teacher bought the 1967 Dart and I thought it looked so much nicer than my Dad's 1963 Dodge Dart. I went home and excitedly told my Dad about the new design and how we needed to get one, but he didn't. P.S. He waited until 1968 and bought a 327 Chevy Malibu which eventually became my first car.

Awesome Lou《☆》I spent about 1-1/2 hours in a junk yard cutting off 2 exhaust resonator tips with a hack saw from a 68 Dart back in 77 for My 68 Barracuda. They totally change the exhaust note ☻

Mine was the same year, in Plum crazy Purple. I had the 225 slant 6.Vacuum powered windshield wipers.....they stall out at an intersection as the vacuum decreased :) I wonder the value today ? $35,000 ? Purely a guess, I have no Idea.

the car is rare due to gt status and having a 273 commando with air,the ultimate,run the valves often,my 65 cuda demanded it,they were always out of spec,just like a slant,its necessary

Not that rare, 270s were nothing special. But the 273 engine was a screamer if tuned properly. In fact, Smokey Yunick loved this engine. Very nice car altogether.

Yeah, the 270 nomenclature wasn't extremely descriptive of any trim or performance option. In fact, I recall an old man in the 1970s with a 1965 Dart station wagon with the 270 badge which had a slant six engine. There was also a lady who worked at the gas station up the road with a 1965 (I think) Dart 2 door with the same 270 designation.

I have one just like it . The interior is the same except for the "mopar" Logos within the inside of the car. Those were added to the upholstery. Mine black ' with exact style front bench seat.
