Watching this video makes me realize something, your son is going to grow up with a story to tell if you ever pass it on to him in the future. His kids will tell their friends and say my grandfather worked on this car when my dad was my age..... and we're all here to witness it. What a time to be alive.

Pile of work, but well worth it, looking at the results in sealer. Congrats on the colour choice. Consider burgundy for the interior, against that dark silver, if it's custom anyway. Cheeseler makes a beautiful gun metal grey that has a little tinge of blue in the metallic, depending on how the sun hits it. My sister had it on several of her Fifth Avenues(she really liked that colour). Whatever you decide, it's going to be gorgeous! Malcolm Ottawa Valley 👍

Not sure what your engine choice is going to be, modern 392 Hemi or Hellcat super charged, but also a 440 big block would be a nice alternative, happy choice picking.

Maybe we're missing something, the black coating on the new panels is primer. All I ever did was scuff with green scotchbrite pads to take the shine off Then grease and wax remove solvent wash it. One other trick I always used was to use a dupont scale and rust remover just before primer. That stuff will promote adhesion of the primer. But, I watch these videos to learn new and improved tips on rebuilding old cars. I'm not nitpickin.
@rustbucketrestos65117 ай бұрын
A lot of guys do that method & have great success. I have received panels that have the EDP coating blistering off in places due to bad panel prep. Truth is, you have no idea how it was prepped, who sprayed it, where it was made, etc. I like having the piece of mind knowing it was prepped right from bare metal--especially for such an expensive build. Last thing I want is to have failed paint 6 months later due to the EDP.

Big step in this restoration. I always love when I get the project to epoxy primer and everything is one color again. You know... there is a channel doing a similar thing - and you both have such high standards but it seems you approach stuff a little differently. So... if you haven't checked out Foothill Fabrications, you might want to take a look. You both have smallish channels so far... when you should each be over 100K subscribers with the quality of the work you do. Maybe you guys could do a little co-promotion or collaborating? You appeal to the same type of subscriber, but I bet that right now there isn't a lot of crossover yet... and there should be. Anyway... thanks for sharing this project with us. Nice to see such huge progress in one upload!!

I said black with red stripe and red interior weeks ago! Metallic black would look pretty cool (Cadillac color?) On my '73 Jimmy, i painted it metallic pearl green, but I made sure that I used a matching pearl white for the cove (I wanted the flake to match). Call TAMCO Paint to see if they can match the black and red together. I'm thinking Tamco's Interbalactic with Blood Diamond stripe.

Your color choice is the exact color of my '69 Camaro, I even have red hockey stick stripes. Can't say I'm terribly fond of the color choice as you see many modern plain Jane SUV refrigerators getting around in those colors, but it's you car and choice not mine. 2nd gen Chargers are forever iconic, the pinnacle of the muscle car era and in my opinion look the best in high impact colors from that time. Still good to see the project moving ahead, keep up the good work.

I dig the idea of a red interior. The grand Cherokee track hawk had a mostly red interior (lower dash, seats, lower door parts, and other bits, so it was mostly red and not completely. But it was a rhino blue/gray over the red interior, it looked awesome. I know you're an Ohio guy, so maybe a Ohio state kind of theme? Sand blasting is the worst because you can never get all the sand out of the car unless you have it on a rotisserie and be able to blow all the holes and crevices out while the car is upside down and on it's sides and even then it's a pain. Ask any car painter how much they hate blasted cars because sand seems to want to come out when priming and painting is going on and can make a mess of a paint job.
