Holy GUACAMOLE LOU!! that solid lifter hemi made my heart explode. Wow. My dad claims his solid lifter 426 hemi super bee screamed passed 10,000 when he blew a shift. He shut it off, scared of what he had just done. After he worked up his courage he started it and it was *fine* This 426 block is it. Still crushing top fuel 60 years later.

Lovely example Lou. The GTX was the upscale version, it must have had some good caretakers. Nice & stock, the wheels & red line tires make it more special. Big engine compartment & that elephant uses it all.Quite a jewellery box under the hood!

Wow, that is a super rare color! You always see B5 blue, dark green metallic, or high-impact colors. I'll bet that car really stands out at shows. What really makes it unique is the burgundy interior matching the paint. Very nice!

LOVE them little round 1968 marker lights! That red/burgundy is pretty much the equivalent of the legendary B5 Blue! I mean it's up there as one of MOPAR's finest colors ever. With that bench/column interior, it's like MOPAR's version of 'The Banker's Hot Rod...' What that car is, is four wheeled royalty!!

This gent is very generous in explaining the “little” difference between what is under a Hemi GTX and a regular GTX. They had to beef up the frame and suspension or that engine could twist that frame into pretzels!

Another great Mopar! This 1968 Plymouth GTX has a beautiful paint job, looks awesome, and the 426 Hemi sounds real healthy! It was interesting to know that it was once a VIP model when new. A really sweet ride indeed Lou! I've yet to see a GTX equipped with a 4-speed manual transmission. So far, the ones you've ran across are equipped with Torqueflite automatic transmissions. What a beauty!

Wow! A rare enough car, () but that paint! Lovely! The solid lifters make MUSIC! 🎵🎶😁 I didn't see the shoulder belts above the side window, hmmm..those started mid year of '66 in Mopars & are so, so, so important for safety. & as you know, they were of the fabulous aircraft belt buckle design..very secure and very easy to disengage, (Though they do not do so in a high G impact, as some more modern types have been known to do, like the push buttons ones can, when the buckle impacts your hip bone) which can be crucial post accident, in the event of fire, or other reason. Thanks so much, Lou! You have done it again! I hope your winter is going well, with all the crazy weather out there..southern Wisc has been fairly inocuous & not bad at all.

That's a great color. I will never understand why they only offered it one year only, as if they were Hell-bent on remaining the number three automaker. That interior color is also magnificent. What's odd though is the bench seat in a Hemi car. If you're going to go automatic, the last thing you would want to have with a Hemi would be a column shifter. They should have made a console and buckets mandatory, for these. The cheapened interior materials and fake wood stickers were especially disappointing and a break from earlier Chrysler Corporation tradition. The dashboard resembles some early 70s Made in Taiwan cheap stereo with hard plastic needle arm for the turntable, usually missing a counterweight at the end of the needle arm put there to keep your LPs from wearing out
