Great review, Manny. You are so correct when you say that this is what 911s were all about, especially the short wheelbase cars.Once mastered, these cars were SO much fun to drive at the limit. Rob is lucky to have such a remarkable car!

R Gruppe cars are my favorite flavor of Porsche. TRE does very nice builds. Thank you for this review.

As a life long Porsche geek, co-pilot & pilot & SoCal native (& NorCal & PNW resident), I wholeheartedly agree with Manny (awesome concise, honest & joyful review!) & his ranking system for these special iterations of the marque. A dream of mine is to have one (or more) of the R-Gruppe members and their tribute / bespoke cars in my sights just about anywhere on the California coast, costal ranges, Sierra passes & other inland SoCal, NorCal & OR roads, while I stayed close with my '10 C4S & properly captured the physics, dynamics, simple beauty & pure joy that the pilot & passengers experience in these lightweight tigers. Any takers, please say hi... As Manny wisely commented, these cars (and the various short-hood, long-hood & G models) perform best on tarmac that is mostly dry, so please do respect Mother Nature & when it gets damp, carry on in what I've come to fully believe are Porsche's most useful iterations: just about anything with AWD & a Porsche badge. Programming suggestion: For me, the fun really starts when the weather is variable & an even deeper zen-like focus is required to maintain the dumb frigging grin on one's face when conditions are less than ideal & the tarmac is wet & slippery! Hint hint Manny: why don't you do some one-mile reviews when the weather gets really fun in something like what I currently rock or any other AWD Porsche?! :)

We may have to rent a wet skidpad to show just how good Porsche Stability Management is compared to those without it. Unfortunately, I'm not sure how many people would let us drive their Porsche in inclement weather.

My favorite car we’ve ever built at TRE! This car is so light and nimble that I personally give it a 10 on the fun factor. I do agree with the other rankings though. It’s so magical to drive, I’m building something similar for myself. ❤🏁🏆.

With a name like BUTZI it has to be good! That interior!? #neverlift I absolutely love the spartan look of the early cars. I think we're ALL going to be smiling for awhile, Manny!

Outstanding review of an outstanding car! Bit surprised to see it over in Maryland, however. For many years this has been one of my favorite cars at our annual Treffen. Hopefully Brandi and Rob someday make the long drive out so we can see it again. Oh, and yes, Manny, us R Gruppe-ers do "drive these pigs!!!" (our battle cry, engendered by one of our late, great members whose son now runs their TLG Auto shop in LA) on extended road trips just like that. Can't think of a better car to do that in. My personal road trip worthiness rating is a solid "10", especially when accompanied by a dozen of my R Gruppe buddies. And think about it - what other make of 50 year old sports cars would anyone trust, much less a dozen of 'em together, on an extended road trip. 911's rock! But you know that. Anyway, thanks for all of the kind words regarding our "merry band of misfits". It's nice to see the PCA acknowledging us. Keep up the good work!

GREAT video! 👍 Love seeing these special cars. Thanks for all the hard work finding and filming these cars. Anyone catch the 917-style wood shift knob? 🤔
