Well I've had 3 BMW's & a 1983 911 Porsche, the Porsche had original motor, gearbox, stater motor, alternator, 294 K on the clock & NEVER gave me trouble, the BMW's water pump went after 100k so in my opinion the Porsche is the ultimate driving machine.....Sorry Beam Ray

It's a wonder why Porsche keeps offering this car with rear seats. You'd think they would have replaced them for sufficient cargo space long ago, especially since only about 3% of drivers report ever using them. It's like Porsche's equivalent of the appendix; a car that has evolved to include something it no longer needs. Offer them as an option if owners really want them. Maybe the new model will remedy this, along with a single-piece rear hatch.

I swear when I first heard about this car I wanted to sell stocks and buy it, only to find out from a friend of mine who has a 2009 Turbo S that he went to the dealer and they practically laughed at him, as they were already sold out. with no air conditioning, goodluck selling to tropical countries... the pagani zonda R wieghs 1070kg, 911R weighs 1370 with full tank.. the zonda r has an AMG v12 engine, how come the weight of this car is still quite heavy?, i presume its smaller and probably has a flat six engine, i just don't think they've used enough carbon fiber, maybe there's still more aluminium than carbon fiber in this car unlike the paganis, anyway porsche is known for using aluminium chassis.. porsche still owns the N'ring record tho, that stefan bellof record still holds even with all the advancements today..

Anime536 _ WTF ? Zonda R is all carbon fiber and costs $ 2.8 million. 911R is a metal production car that costs 185,000. If you want AC get a GT3.

thee Mitchi That's Porsche marketing talking. :) You want "old school"? Get the base model 911. Least loaded with 911 tech for a real "old school" 911 driving feel. Notice how many 911's there are now? :) Name another hi-end manufacturer (or any) with so many versions of one model. :) Porsche has arguably the best engineers and put out "the best" balanced sports car IMHO. But they are one of, if not THE, greediest company out there. :)

Well, this car isn't loaded either, is it? Though I agree, the base 911 still drives circles around other (much higher priced) sports cars. I think Porsche, due to the fact that they just build a car more to what it was designed, and not what the accountants say, is the best car manufacturer (exempt ones like Pagani etc who don't mass produce) - but I hate their politics of building only a handful of GT3, GT3 RS, 911 R etc ... there are probably 10000 potential GT3 RS customers out there (if not more), but they're only builing like 4000 ... and building more should also help with the production costs of a PDK and a manual :D

thee Mitchi It's funny. There are 25 versions of the 911 today. :) They force you to take new Porsche tech like "rear wheel steering" if you want a certain option. So you are forced to buy cars that are least "old school 911"..the more expensive the 911 model is. :) You WANT the tail to swing out. You WANT to experience what made a 911 drive like a 911. Instead, many models have so much tech designed to make the 911's turn corners fast with less chance of loosing control. "Purist"? With all that GT3 RS tech (though they removed some of it)?? Who are they kidding? The gullible wealthy 1st time 911 buyer who can afford a $210k 911 as their first 911!! :)

The problem is also buying one if you have the money .. you can't just walk into the dealership and by a GT3 RS. Often the cars are gone before the world knows about them (911 R), and even if you got an order, it might be canceled because Porsche put that order onto another customer ... what a load of crap :(

Leider vergrault ihr mit solchen Autos die Kundschaft, da man die als normaler Mensch gar nicht kaufen kann. Ich habe einen 911 von einem Porschezentrum und kann den nicht kaufen. Dazu kommt, dass Eure Verkäufer mir immer vorhalten, dass ich mit handgeschalteten Porsches falsch liege, das sei veraltet. Dann kommen handgeschaltete Autos wie der Cayman GT4 oder den 911R und sind entweder sofort ausverkauft oder gehen nur an die ganz guten Kunden. Die meisten der beiden genannten Porsches werden von gierigen Spekulanten gekauft. Das macht euch für mich leider unsympathisch.
