A true sign of professionalism for RetroPower - When previous work carried out on a car is poor, the comments by Cal and Nat are polite and respectful and then, with this video, Richard making a point of acknowledging the quality on the work that was already put into the TVR. It’s a sign of real class and respect. Love seeing it.

TVR fan here, but the quality of work that had gone into that Vixen already made it look like an existing RP project. The Den should encourage some really interesting asides from your main builds; I can't wait!

Gawd! The paint job is unbelievable! The best looking '70's crappie color I've ever seen. I think the visible bolts look nice. They are functional, so show them off. Could they be made into a feature. Body colour perhaps? Churchill looks better and better. Vixen is microscopic! Interior looks stunning.

I would love to come to your inaugural den opening, but as I'm poor, and would have to hitchhike to get there, and as I'm in Michigan, USA, there's that big blue thing in the way. So lads, i wish you the best. I know it'll be terrific. If anuone wants me, I'll be here, feeling downright envious. Enjoy and prosper. 🖖 to paraphrase Spock.

Memories, in 1974 my father bought an Austin Maxi 1750 HL. Wait for it, it was in Harvest Gold and for the era it looked stunning and was no slouch compared to many other cars that were around then. There, I've confessed.

Problem is that if it is vibration induced, it could easily happen again. May need some compliance in the TPS mounting or a better quality sensor

Modifying* the steering arms so the knuckles are further out, for front-steer, is a BIG step to inprove the Ackermann effect. The line from the steering knuckles, through the steering axis, should intersect at the centre-line of the vehicle. Been a while but, IIRC. the intersection point should be at, or near, the rear axle, but I may be mistaken on that. *Or making from billet.

As someone who was around when Shelby Mustangs and Cobras and long hood 911's and most every other cool cars were new I hate seeing them with modern basecoat clearcoat paint jobs. Cars never looked like that. Even when freshly polished and Turtle waxed you could not read a magazine in the reflection. Yes, the new paint jobs are 'better' and they will never look right to me.

Of all the colors to paint the Allegro its' baby rap yellow. The Allegro was a real dog in one sorry line-up of products from Leyland in the 70's. Unless you lived through the era, you probably don't understand how bad the cars were. I kind of think i would not be sinking a kings ransom into a 70's style car
@StephenParkes-e9y5 ай бұрын
Most cars of the 70s were pretty horrible compared to most things all much of a muchness yes I lived through it and have driven and worked on most,motor trade 40 odd years it’s what they are, the couloirs the allegros are going is in keeping as is a lot of the styling just up my street,I’m building an mgb on an mx5 platform so it’ll still probably end up in its original puke yellow, but it should look good lol

The main issues I found doing restoration professionally on those cars wasn't bad design though, they were just put together insanely badly. Labor issues seem to have caused a bit of an unmotivated workforce. Put together at the correct spec, they work pretty well in most cases. There are, of course, exceptions.
