Great Job. I've Been A Mechanic For Next Month Will Be 50 Years. I Worked For Volkswagen Audi / Porsche Dealers For 33 Years . I Replaced Hundreds Of Glass And Seals On Those Vehicles. I Still Have The Same Piece Venetian Blind Cord That I Used To Install Them At least 45 Years. There Was No Such Thing As String Trimmer Line Back In The Early 70's . Believe It Or Not I Use To Install Most Of The Windshields Alone When There Was Nobody Free Or Around To Help Me. This Video Brought Memories.

Very cool! The weed eater line is glossy, helps it slide out of the seal easily. Glad the video brought back memories. Thanks!

I will have to do mine alone, I'm praying I can do it

@@LindaKKBakalisIf you're doing the job alone, look into getting some special suction cups so you can pull the windshield from the inside. Might work!

@@CMSgarage96 thanks for that, I did think of that. I have a suction cup bar that is used for the shower, I think that might work

Thank you for an awesome trick with the line. I will be replacing a windshield in a 67 soon so this was super helpful.

I have to credit others with the trick, but yes it works. You're welcome! Make sure you use plenty of silicone spray to keep the seal lubricated. Have two people, one pulling the line and another seating the glass. Good luck!

I've heard to be light with the silicone spray but I would think it would be more beneficial to at least go with a medium spray to help. I have to replace mine in my 74 Standard but I have to remove the 'teeth' on the sides and bottom so the glass will fit.
