Finishing everything around the windshield area, we actually reinstall the windshield, with new rubber and chrome!

I'm getting ready to put a new headliner in my '70 beetle, which will require removing all the glass. This video is VERY helpful to understand what I'm facing when everything has to go back together. Thank you!

Thanks! And good luck. I’ll probably be updating this video soon as my original glass broke! I’d do a couple things different, but not much.

Your perseverance and patience paid off good job! The last windshield I put in on my 72 Beetle I did crack it. I am putting in a new windshield this week and your video has helped. Thank you. I do think I’ll use silicone spray though instead of Windex.

So great vid, did not know they where crash clips. I did my windsheild 10 months ago and covered the clips and it slowly has pulled off on the top dead center to the point of leaking, this is the best vid on the tube explaining this, thanku very much. Appears you left some on the bottom which I think would be fine. When they put new headliners in no one has been installing the clips either.

I think I just left the original headliner clips in, but not the big clip strips to hold in the windshield in case of an accident. The BIG bummer is, I took a trip last weekend and on the way a rock came up from a pickup and took out the windshield! big ol bullseye and cracks :(

Definitely a job for 2 people , I always use para cord as not and strong but boy it’s satisfying once done , good job sir !! Not seen those crash windscreen clips in any bug in the U.K. tho

Thanks! Yeah, it is a 2 person job. I think the clips started in 71 but not for sure. US regs for keeping the windshield in during a crash. The new rubber does not have the grove for them so out they came :)

Is your beetle a 74? I'm fairly new to beetles, I recently bought a red 74 beetle with a flat windshield. Is this what they call the love bug edition?
@Misunderstoodboygenius3 жыл бұрын
Hey there. Mine is a 71. The 74 with a flat windshield is a standard Beetle. The curved windshield was a super Beetle. In 74 there was a Love Bug Edition with black chrome and bumpers. www.sebeetles.com/lovebug/

@@Misunderstoodboygenius Thanks. I assume that all were super beetles after 71'. I'll be bringing lucille home in two weeks. I was able to start the engine for a second or two, but it's been garaged for 12 years. What is a good website you recommend for parts?

@@vladimircastillo813 they imported standard in the US through 77 I believe. 71 and 72 super and standard have a flat windshield. 73 on the super had a curved windshield. The last Beetles officially imported to the US were all convertibles.
