That baby needs some disc brakes up front ;-) One thing about these buses is the shifter. Sometimes the popping out of gear has nothing to do with the transaxle, but the shifter. I upgraded my shifter in my 1986 Syncro Doka to a billet shifter and my popping out of gear problem completely stopped. The transaxle was freshly rebuilt, and it was popping out of fourth. It was the shifter, and not the transaxle. I can't remember right off the top of my head of the small company I bought the shifter from, but it made a world of difference in the driving experience.

On Rambus it will pop out of 4th gear on the JFK bridge but not on Harbor. I am use to it ? It has done it for the last 800 ,000 miles. It will keep going for a few more 100 !!!

There are some local shops but they will only take on smaller jobs when I try to do business with them they are more sales then mechanic shops. Kar part‘s, Smith automotive, Bugoholics. My guy was the VW wizard and was he ever true to that name. Could fix anything, air cold or not. Any help or guidance is truly appreciated, thanks again

I have a dual port 1600 cc with the same setup for the transmission. I have to replace my existing trans because its not going in reverse. Question, should I get it fixed instead of replacing or do the uprade to the 5 rib trans like in the vid? What are the pros n cons. I have a 71 vw camper hardtop and even though Ive put some work into it, Im fairly new to it. Thanks

not going into reverse? have you try adjusting the shift plate under the shifter and made sure your shift coupler in the back is not busted or disconnected?
