What are you 10? Quit complaining it's a 44 year old car, you expect something that weighs 4,000 lbs with only 290 horsepower to be as fast as a bugatti veyron? You should be slapped for not appreciating a classic.

Stock actual horsepower is closer to 400 than the factory rated 290. Factory rating submitted to SCCA is about 550 with optional cam and crossram. I will have to dig out my old original specs. Interesting is if you had the optional cam and crossram, Chevrolet road rated it at 490 HP.

Gotta love that solid roller 302, a limiter of around 7500 rpm, heck that's its sweet spot, rotating mass is in its favor here! Just shows that you can build a lightweight valvetrain and still make some very impressive power numbers! Chevrolet only rated those 5 liter powerplants at 290 horses for the insurance companies, realistically they made close to 390 horses. Truly a state-of-the-art engine for its time.

the 302 in the z28 were very underrated engines from the factory to keep insurance cost down... these engines in stock form made around 360-370 hp from the factory... but in full scca race form with headers, dual quads and a 140 race camshaft these engines are capable of 450+ hp at 8000 rpm!... awesome performers

Just think that the new U.S. Spec Ford Focus RS has a 4 cylinder engine that pumps out 330hp. It's amazing how far cars have come in terms of performance. I do think that a lot of today's cars will never fully match the quality, pride, and craftsmanship that car makers put into cars such as this Camaro.

+Trikster1of4 For your information, far too many of these DORKS doing these videos about these '67 through '69 Camaro Z/28's with the mighty 302, repeat the "ADVERTISED 290 HORSE POWER" which is NOT ACCURATE AT ALL. These FACTORY RACE ENGINES did indeed make "290hp".....but at only about 5,500 rpm's.......and they stated that TO AVOID THE HIGH INSURANCE RATES that buyers would be slapped with, because in reality, this engine was a 327/bore at 4 inches per cylinder coupled with a 283 steel crank that shortened the stroke to only 3 inches, creating a super high revving horsepower producing MONSTER from the factory, because unlike conventional performance V8's, THIS V8 can easily rev to 7,000 rpm's no problem, and some ran their's to 8,000 rpm's, which is incredible for a "factory V8", but the design of this engine meant that unlike most V8's that start losing horsepower as revs get too high, THIS V8 continues to make EVEN MORE horsepower, all the way to the red line, meaning these engines easily produced 350 horsepower, and with a few factory engine options they created over 400 horse power. But General Motors could not publicly advertise those TRUE performance numbers, without stunting sales to the public due to higher insurance rates that buyers would've had to pay to drive these on the street. To this very day, these are one of the most impressive "factory race engines" ever produced by GM, especially when you consider it is only 302 cubic inches that are normally aspirated. Simple carburators.......no fuel injection, no turbo's, no super charger...........simply amazing..........even today!

i have been in both old and new car wrecks and with that old steel it will take much more damage, BUT without the airbags safety features ect you will be thrown across the seat violently into a windshield hit the steering wheel and dashboard the only good thing was you can jump out very fast if it caught a fire. an lets be honest id rather have the thrill of if i wreck real bad the chances of me surviving are slim.

A guy I knew in our small town got hurt offshore in an accident and got a large settlement. Bought one of these new in 1969 while I was still in high school. His was marina blue with white stripes. That car was QUICK! Another thing a lot of people don't know is that "Z28" was an order code number for this package mentioned above. It wasn't until '69 that it came out as a separate model called.....Z28. The "67 and '68 didn't have the identifying badges.

Unemployed? Not at all, I make excellent money working at my family business that my great grandfather started. One day I will run the entire operation and pass it on to my children. This car gets about 8 mpg but it doesn't bother me because even if gas is 4 bucks a gallon, it is still incredibly cheap. You can go a mile for 50 cents. No other method of fast, comfortable, long distance transportation is that cheap. Gas prices aren't too high, it's just that we've had 50 years of incredibly

Dont even get started.Sorry but my philosophy when it comes to cars is engineering. I wouldnt realy care about a car that has like 8000cc and puts out 500hp but i would admire a car that is liek 4000cc and puts out that amount. I just dont like the exageration with no purpose whatsoever. And american products are all about big big big bigger bigger.Big is not good. Thats my opinion ofc.

I really enjoy the variety of cars that you film Kyle. However, it would be good if you didn't say things like "more smoother" so much. It really detracts from the otherwise excellent quality of your reviews. It's difficult to take the presentation seriously when there are so many things like that in the commentary.

bull shit its a brake pedal, if you watch tokyo drift you would see that everytime they press it down the car would drift. cheap gas because supply stayed above demand. Now that oil demand is exceeding supply, the price has shot up from that ultra cheap price so it seems a lot worse than it really is. But put everything in perspective and it's still an incredible bargain. Especially compared to what they pay in Europe.

@felixcruzazul 12 жыл бұрын
ok maybe 4 speakers is to much it would probably waist to much gas but you can change the engine get rid of that POS 8 cylinder and put a 6 cylinder or maybe go tokyo drift and put a japanese 4 cylinder badass engine on it that way the speakers wouldnt suck all the gas out of it

This car was under rated on horse power for the epa and the government , That kept them off of GMs back. Is there anyone here that has ever driven one ?? They were FREAKIN MONSTERS !!! I drove one with 411 rear end gears , you could start from a stop in 3 rd gear ! Their a few clues that will tell you if it is real or a reproduction, Here a few, No Z/28s came with A/C or power steering that was never an option, It also had a different steering gear box, you could turn this car on a dime !! They all had multi leaf springs and power assist front disc brakes , The cowl hood was an option and if it came with the hood it would have the flap and the wire harness.There were 2 motor options a 302 which came with a 8000 rpm tach, and a 350 which came with a 7000 rpm tach.But the 302 had special deep groove pulleys for the alt, water pump and the crank shaft. GM made the 1969 camaro all the way into 1970 it was one of GMs Pride and Joys !!!!
@gdb5444
@gdb5444 10 жыл бұрын
A few corrections to your comment: Your first and biggest mistake -The 302 was the ONLY available engine in the 1967-1969 Z28, the LT1 350 was not introduced until the 2nd gen 1970 -1973 Camaro Z28. Power steering was most definitely a part of the 69 Z28 package. The reason some cars had a 7k or 8k tach was simply a late year production change to the 8k tach and had absolutely nothing to do with engine displacement or horsepower changes. These facts are easily verifiable on several Camaro websites, such as camaro.org.
@michaeldavis5775
@michaeldavis5775 5 жыл бұрын
The early 1969 Z28's had a 7000 rpm tach. The 8000 rpm tach was introduced a few months into the model year. I've owned real z28s with both tachs. The z28 tachs had a 6000 rpm redline, whereas the 350 tach had a redline much less, about 5500 rpm.

Hell yeah! 17 year old and I own a 1968 Mustang Coupe. Although sadly, I attract more attention from guys than I do from the ladies. Mustang fan until I die!

I like that style of Camaro compared to the '70s-'90s styles. The newer styles were ugly in my opinion. Then, when the Camaro got redesigned I loved it again.

It shocks me how this man is more enthusiastic "reviewing" these rubbish American vehicles that have no traction than the beautiful supercars he has "reviewed".

Beautiful classic car. Honestly I think I would rather own this than a 2012 Camaro SS.
