We had a 1972 Chrysler New Yorker in Belgium. It was a wonderful car, very smooth and powerful. My dad loved driving it, even though it was expensive to operate with European gas prices. The salesman later told us only six of these cars were sold in the country. It was a rare one indeed.

I worked at a Chrysler, Dodge and Plymouth dealership in the mid 70's as a mechanic. Fixed and drove all of their cars, including the MOPAR's high performance cars. I owned a 68 Plymouth Fury III 2dr fastback coupe that was almost as big as this Chrysler. I called it my land yacht, nice cruiser and had air conditioning.😎

It's amazing to me that I still remember this jingle after 50 years! I was 7 years old when the '69s came out, and I've always thought that most all the American car brands were just spectacularly beautiful that year. The New Yorker in the commercial looks so gorgeous - too bad we don't have new cars that look that elegant today. Thanks so much for posting!

The music, style, looks, feel... LUV it. I really like all the fuselage design Mopars. 1969 through 1973.

Thank you for posting this wonderful ad. The 1969 fuselage look was hands down the finest looking Chrysler ever. 50+ years later it still looks fresh and modern. I had a ‘69 Newport. It was beautifully engineered as well.....the ride felt like you were floating in air thanks to the torsion suspension. I only wish this car was still being made.

I've got a new one coming very soon, a 1969 Chrysler Commercial. It will be uploaded in a couple weeks, it's out being restored. I can't wait myself to see it all restored!!!! I'm very excited....it will be in HD too

Thanks to Government intervention, you are no longer allowed to feel like you are floating in the air. The Government deemed that "floating" was unsafe and that you need to feel the road, bumps and all, all in the name of safety as determined by the Government.

When I was in college in the late 70's my buddy had a 1969 300 coupe in that green color. The effortless ability of that 440 to move over 4,000 lbs of real Detroit metal was amazing, and it was ALWAYS a treat when he'd take her off the leash!

It was nice when a commercial didn't need yelling and screaming or annoying music to get the point across. David Wayne had a great speaking voice without having to get loud.

Outside of the Chrysler Corporation 1957 models I consider the "fuselage look" of the late 60's and early 70"s to be the best looking cars ever. Nothing beats nice cohesive smooth lines with a minimum of ornamentation.

I had a 69 Plymouth VIP. The first year for the fuselage look. Loved that car. They didn't make many with the VIP name plate. But the Fuselage look -- great as it was -- I think the Chrysler stylists did some of their best work for 1967 with the Dodge Monaco, Polaris, Plymouth Fury/VIP, Chrysler Newport and New Yorker, and the very grand Imperial. The year 1967 was a Chrysler styling highmark.

I enjoy my '69 Chrysler convertible. It effortlessly floats smoothly past every car or truck.

Floats? That might have had a problem, Chrysler, Dodge and Plymouth tended to be very good road cars, one reason why so many police departments used them. They rode very differently than full sized GM's or Ford's

Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Now they want to slow down all the gas station fuel pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime :-(((
