I just finished redoing my 81 Z28. 381 Cubes is enough!

It definitely wasn't a powerhouse but a damn good looking ride.

I’ve always been a Pontiac guy, but the 80 and 81 Z-28 was a great looking car.

I think it was 190hp with the 350. Powerhouse for 81.

By far the best F body 1978-81... I'd love to have a 305 in a Camaro again

No mention of power and performance numbers in those days...lol

Lol, yeah we speak about how hard we worked to get almost no power out of a SBC. 😂

Once wrecked by a drunk. It’s(The 1981 Z-28) Super T-10 long ratio 4 speed transmission made a great doner in our 1979 Pontiac Trans Am that had a built for Racing spec Ram Air lV Pontiac 400. With 490 Lb Ft of Tq, 457 peek HP, 3.73 gears Posi-Safety-track & bolt on Summit racing subframe connectors. With improved pilot bearing & Center force Dual friction clutch it was a Real SR-79 Blackbird, 😊!

SR-71? or are you making like a "State Route" type joke
@joshbrekke6374 Жыл бұрын
@@5.9manualzj no way. Our 1979 Trans Am was stealth quick/fast and we surprised many with a lot more into their builds. Pissed off a few Viper, 911, Vette & Ferrari owners as well. It handled as if it were on rails & launched like a pro mod. So after I dialed it in around 1993 we named it the SR-79 Blackbird because we love the SR-71 Blackbird. The car was all black including it’s modified 15x8” Pontiac Rally 2,s. Murdered out before “Murder Nova” was a thought.

Love it, but the 305 4 speed was not enough
@iviekicklighte673 Жыл бұрын
The 305 was an economy V8 that why people bought it the 350 was the engine too get it was a better built motor the 4.3 was a good engine to there was always something up with GM 300 motors the best engine were the V6 2.8. 4.3 V8 was the 5.3 and the 5.7 those were rock hard motors that ran forever now Ford guys will go on and on about how good a 300 4.9 Ford engine is but all four of those GM motors will last just as long if not longer

Not fast, not made of high quality materials, not durable, etc…but it was all about looks and having fun with the car. Most Americans then made a living wage and did not need a car to last 20 years nor did they make car payments for 84 months. It was the right car for the time.

Why couldn’t the model Camaro look like this i would have bought one. I never liked the 60s style in which it was based on.
