Don's car is Sweet! But his throwback Direct Connection t-shirt brings back fond '80s memories of Chrysler factory support for hobbyists with technical support and performance parts that fueled the muscle car boom and restoration of vehicles just like his R/T. You are now our "Direct Connection" with great features like these! Thanks Lou!

In 77 I saw an ad in a Hot Rod magazine offering a free “I get mine from Direct Connection” t-shirt. Of course I clipped the order form and sent it to some PO Box in Detroit. I was very happy to find my free Mopar DC shirt in my mailbox a few weeks later. Even better was the fact I wasn’t charged any duty on it when it entered Canada. Proudly wore the shirt to class in high school. Fellow car guys among my classmates were savvy enough to know the slogan was NOT a drug reference.
@gzuzsavz3 жыл бұрын
Good note! Yes, I recall fondly leafing through the DC parts catalogue & ordering a few things as funds allowed and having the calendars, too. Then the Mopar Performance days in the 90's-2000's was it? :) Pre Daimler buyout days were special. ..too bad the company wasn't bought out by the employees or something first. Lee Iacocca later regretted giving Bob 'Sellout' Eaton the reins. ..funny how Fiat of all companies really helped them be a musclecar making company, once more, far better than the toxic buyout atmosphere under Daimler Benz. The future under the mega conglomerate, Stellantis..is unclear, but ok at the moment.

We owned a "done up" 69 Super Bee with a healthy 383 and enjoyed it. Our friend had a 66 Coronet two door sedan with a Hemi and torqueflite. The difference was astounding! When he kicked down the throttle, all hell broke loose as it down shifted and the dual carbs came on board....what a ride. I have never ridden in a car with such brutal, neck snapping performance!

Beautiful Coronet R/T. It has to be a blast driving that car with a Hemi and a 4 speed!!! That car is immaculate, looks like you could eat off of the engine it is so clean!!! Fun Fact, when my Grandfather bought his 1968 Dodge D100 truck, the Dodge dealers were giving away "Dodge 3 in 1" slot car sets by Eldon and one of the cars in the set was a 1968 Coronet R/T. Everytime I see one of these Mopar muscle car videos I am reminded of the one that got away! I had a chance to buy a 1970 Road Runner, bright green, air grabber hood scoop, pistol grip 4 speed, 440 six pack, dayna posi for $2,200 in 1981. It needed a throw out bearing in the clutch, and a front carburetor that was damaged in a small carb fire. I decided to keep my 1966 Mustang, and my 1966 Pontiac Grand Prix and not buy it. Really nice looking Hemi!!! I don't know how you wouldn't drive it as much as possible. Ok, I did get an underhood shot this time. The scoops are functional, looks like there is a chamber in the hood for outside air.

Hi Lou & Don, WOW - thank you so much for sharing this incredible and beautiful rare 1969 Dodge Coronet R/T HEMI car! The color combination is just stunning with the T5 Bronze Metallic exterior paint and beige interior with buckets and even a Tic Toc Clock Tach! :-) Don, the restoration on your car is just incredible and the attention to the small details is second to none, may I inquire, did you do the four year restoration your self or did a restoration shop do it for you and what shop? Thank you.
@loucostabile3 жыл бұрын
Hi Jason, Happy to receive a "WOW" :-) I'm not sure who did the restoration. My pleasure sharing with you, and you're welcome, Lou

I am wondering why the R/T badging is placed on the back fender when on most other 69 Corronet R/T’s it is mote near the door on the back fender. Anyone know why? AND there goes Lucky Lou getting another ride in a beautiful rare car!! You deserve it Lou for bring these cars to us!
