Genuine car with original paintwork, and he throws the keys on the roof! 😮

That annoyed me as well. Although the paints old it could still scratch but even if not out of respect to the car and its owner I certainly wouldn't have done that, I would shout at someone if they did that to my own ford focus, let alone a classic car. I'dve thought dave would've known better but then again they rev a cold engine from start up then turn it straight off, which I was told never to do, let an engine warm up gently, which can easily be done on the move instead of sitting on the drive.

My younger brother bought a brand new Volvo 300 in 1980 something, and on visiting our parents one day Dad said to him would you like some spuds? Yes was the reply ,right I'll go and dig you some up,when he returned to his car Dad had thrown a full bag on top of the bonnet ,Oh dear.

What a lovely early Capri. The XL was quite desirable back in those days. It was actually two steps up from the Base model (Base, L and XL). Back in 1970 my father had an Ermine White, 1300L which he allowed me to drive occasionally. It was a car that got noticed and the little 1300 engine ran like a sewing machine.

I had one just like that only red I think it was a 1970 with the dreaded 1300 cc engine I could not fault the car but it was under-powered I changed it after a while for a 1972 with the 2ltr V4 Loved it so much I kept it for 8 years I'm shore that you will find it a good home for the old couple.

My uncle had a mk1 Capri. They didn’t come with a radio. He had the old Ford radio out of his Anglia in the car. That’s a lovely genuine car.

Beautifully honest very early base model Capri - just wants recommisioning, detailing and preserving to last and not restored - far more interesting to see the few survivors that remain like this , showing care of ownership .

One of my pals had a 1300 Capri as his first car in 1978, aged 18,he thought he was the cats whiskers, slow old car, later he purchased a 2ltr Consul, nice motor for a 20 year old.

I went on holiday to Italy in the 70’s and remember seeing 1100 Capris,and a 850 Escort. I can’t imagine how awful they must have been to drive.

@@dcarbs2979 wrong,from wiki,using a double-barrel carburettor with 125 PS (92 kW), and in September 1969 the 3000 GT in the UK, with the Essex V6, capable of 138 hp (103 kW).

Why would you walk into a Ford showroom and buy a capri and spec a 1300? makes zero sense ,they are so slow,and use more fuel than 1600,there was also a 1300 GT with a twin choke carb slightly more perfomance and was dearer than 1600 L ..
@mrmoody39754 ай бұрын
Horrifically expensive to insure for a young lad back in the day, so the 1300 Capri offered the boy racer look without the expense, but obviously without the performance. Would have impressed the g/f. That's horribly sexist I know😅
