At 17 i had a mk2 1600 GT, my mate had an immaculate fern green metallic 1600E, i was so jealous of the wood cappings and chrome rostyle wheels. Unfortunately his got nicked and written off, mine rusted away. Oh those happy days as a 17 year old in Southend!

As an 18 year old, my first car was MK2 Cortina 16000 GT. I rebuilt the engine and replaced the wings on my parent's driveway - great car but rusted away and was replaced by a MK3 Cortina 2000 GT in Daytona Yellow with a black vinyl roof - great memories as a 62 year old now!😂

Me too - there's switches, dials, knobs and handles. My latest car is a total nightmare with a computer screen where everything is accessible (supposedly !). It takes 5 separate things to change the radio station 😳😱😱

I started work in Aug 74 and one of the bosses had a 68 MK2 1600 Super or Deluxe and was often asked why he'd not changed it and said why ... There's nothing on that car I can't fix with a screw driver, pair of pliers, a few spanners and a big hammer

The 1600E does have the crossflow GT engine, twin choke weber and four branch manifold.Other than the lotus Cortina the ultimate cortina. I've never seen better than this one and unfortunately it is far too nice to use. It will no doubt command a very high price.

Back in the seventies I had a '67 1600E in Saluki Bronze. Sadly it was stolen (not by me, from me!) The original thief-magnet. I missed it for such a long time. The one here is beautiful, but I would be afraid to leave it anywhere, although I believe they are more into stealing phones these days.

@@carlmason4153true mate I’ve had a few. They would nudge 100 mph But for little mony you could have a third more power. They really needed a higher ratio axle. At 70 mph in top the are revving at 4000 rpm If I bought another one I would probably have a five or six speed box put in and a tuned engine about 120 bhp
