Hello and welcome
I finally found an hour in my hectic life to attend to my beloved Triumph Stag.
I parked it up in October 2020 and haven't used it since. Will it start, will it still be there.
Enjoy
Richard

The grin from ear to ear was a picture to see! And the big chuckle when it started so easily was matched by mine. Good to see the Stag again. 😀👍🏼

That does sound very nice. You keep tempting me with the thought of getting one. Then I look at petrol prices now 😞 My Land Rover was off the road when it was 40, blown up engine, foot wells rusting away, inches away from being scrapped. That was how it was when I bought it 9 years ago. I've used it regularly since fixing it up and I'm determined to take it for a drive on its 50th birthday in October.

You should really take it for a run every week.Even if it's a run to the shops just to keep it free and. easy. My 82 cortina has an outing to the shops every week unless of course it's raining. Fortunately the weather is pretty good most of the year here in Portugal. Been watching Harry the stag as well,bad news on the engine front with the 2500 S. Keep the videos coming,gives me a break from grass cutting.👍👍👍

She sounds lovely and started so well- I reckon if you’d had a battery conditioner on it she’d have been away first time. Can I hear a slight manifold blow when you rev it at about 19:30? But- you confused me re the diff - you said it had a 3.7 in it but that’s standard, I thought yours had the 3.14 which is why you have backplate shannanigans?

got my diff ratios mixed up, it has a 2500 saloon 3.45:1 fitted i think.

I am the guy who makes the new fuse box assembly and now the LED warning light cluster do you think it is worthwhile making those parts .Usually if I make quality components I have difficulty selling them BR Keith

Is the fuse box assembly for blade fuses or oe style? Drop me an email. Not fully sure that I understand the LED thing though. Bulbs in my warning cluster are getting on for 50 years old and still working
@keithhiggins2967
@keithhiggins2967 2 жыл бұрын
The fuse box assembly takes the old style fuses .It is now made from flame proof ABS and won't crack with age as mine did .If the tabs crack as the go brittle the fuses on the end can short out on the firewall .Also the cover is more secure this was also a problem with them . The LED are special 2 way LED designed for the Stag circuits Filament bulbs are usually unreliable I made these because one club member blew an engine and had no warning of oil pressure..

Yeah mine got ignored over the lockdowns so it was about two years before I got it out this summer. I recharged the battery, pumped the tyres, disconncted the king lead and used the starter to get it out the garage. Once the king lead was reconnected, she started first time, on old RON 95! I wish my hood went up and down as easily as yours, what is the secret? Another question, as you work on both the TV8 and RV8 the TV8 has something of a poor reputation, although many of us would defend it. But, are there any dark secrets about the RV8? Just asking because on another vid, on the production of the Stag ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/ooi6dqV6ipVsgLc ), the comments section has a bit of a "lively debate" going on, with one guy in particular saying the RV8 has a solid and saintly pedigree but completely rubbishing the TV8.
@churchhouseclassics
@churchhouseclassics Жыл бұрын
email me for the hood secrets, more often than not it will be a bent frame and/or incorrect fixings to secure each pivot point. TV8 poor reputation is largely* a thing of the past. There are still poor quality parts that are being supplied and then of course the engine gets the blame. Try to ignore the "bar room bores" Rover v8 is a very forgiving unit. They can be terminal and still sound sweet, alas by this point many horses will have fled the paddock. I like both engines but the TV8 at full throttle is a very easy and clear winner when it comes to sound
