Made some real progress. Dare I say we resolved the fueling issues? Maybe. Time will tell. I took some advise from viewers and the smart people at Holley tech support. Made a few changes that seem to be holding up. Enjoy.

My mother bought a new 1969 Plymouth fury three that was yellow with a white interior and a white vinyl top. Her car had a 383 and was very fast. She loved that car and drove it eleven years. I don't know what the mileage was but she drove it to Mexico and all over the United States with her sister that first summer in 1969. She also made at least two trips from Gainesville to Miami each year that she owned it. She made numerus trips to North Carolina in it. The car was still beautiful like my mother when she sold it but the engine was completely worn out. A few years ago I tried to track down the car without any luck.

I really love the story. It sounds like she really enjoyed it as intended. I think the 383 would really change the feel of the car. That is an upgrade I may look into in the future if the 318 starts getting tired. Could be awhile. If you decide to keep looking, I hop you find it.

Awesome that its running better! Enjoy the heck out of it! But (I'm sorry! Really! for saying this!) you might want to look up information on running a fuel filter on the suction side of a mechanical fuel pump; pretty much everything I looked at recommended it to only be on the pressure side. But it ran so maybe will be ok! Enjoy the heck out of your car! Mine is still buried in a garage with no space and partly in pieces. I really admire you getting so much done in your really not very spacious workspace! I need to try to do the same.

Thank you Rich I really appreciate the comments. I will keep an eye on it and consider moving it if needed. My new filter is a very small metal filter with cleanable filter element similar to what is just inside the carb. I am hoping it gives little restriction. Good luck on getting your project moving. Sounds like a good purge may be in order. I am due for one myself. I have to do it every few years or else I couldn't walk through the shop. It is amazing how much stuff I hang onto thinking I will use it, but really it is not worth the space.

My first car was a 69 furyIII conv. 383-2bl, 2.91 gears. Only other option I'm sure of is heavy duty brakes. Was a great hwy car. The speedometer danced around when above 75-80 but the car didn't mind running at 80+ mph. When gas went from 55¢ to $1.40, I gave up on her. Wish I'd of had a barn to put her in.

Love this story. When I bought my first one 30 years ago I was about 3 hours from home.. heading back I was amazed at how easily it just kept going faster. Huge difference from the 4cly I was driving previously. In fact I think I was going about 80+ when the back hub cap came off and passed us on the freeway, we watched fly up the hill into the grass. We turned around and searched for like an hour and never found it. It must have gone back in time. lol

Do you have your fuel filter on backwards?

Thank you for your comment. My new filter is by directional. So far no issues with fuel since this episode. It is my original sealing issues from rear main and transmission that have come back to haunt me.

Thank you. I am still not out of the woods yet, but it is nice to drive it for a while. The dash pad is way better than cracked up dash underneath. I belive I got it from the following site. They make it to order with several choices of materials. I think I have the "velour" option. I installed it with Landau Top & Trim Adhesive from Weldwood. I taped everything off so I could get the adhesive right to the edge. It hasn't moved at all. dashcare.com/i-137354-plymouth-fury-grand-fury-1969-1973-dashcare-dash-cover.html?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw8J6wBhDXARIsAPo7QA_JTKqTP0cBybIuX-Oj_8FQevV_XhAd8YnN5uZDPT9bfSC0tuWRn_saAmMvEALw_wcB
