In 1969 less than 1700 P1800s were produced and the first year for the powerful B20 engine. Every detail of this vintage Volvo has been lovingly refreshed to offer an unparalleled driving experience.
Performance Redefined For 1969
Under the hood, the heart of this iconic vehicle beats with a robust B20 engine, brand new for 1969. Volvo Engineering gave the new B20 Lower Compression at 9.5:1, then mated twin Zenith-Stormberg carburetors. These changes provided the 1800S with 118 HP at 5,800 RPM.
Delivering the power and performance to the road is a 4-speed manual transmission with overdrive. In 1969 Volvo also changed up the Clutch, Rear axle and Overdrive gearing, giving it a 4,3:1 diff and an Overdrive ratio of 0.797:1, allowing you to cruise effortlessly on the open road or command the gears with precision.
As you power through the gear, this particular B20 sings through a stainless steel exhaust system with a distinctive note and the stainless steel promises durability, ensuring that this classic will continue to turn heads for years to come.
Restored Driving Experience
To enhance the suspension and driving feel, this 1969 Volvo 1800S is equipped with IPD sway bars both front and back, the addition of new Bilstein shocks, and progressive lowering springs. A perfect balance of comfort and performance. The suspension overhaul extends to the front and rear with new suspension bushings, and new upper and lower ball joints ensuring a tight and agile suspension.
Going this fast requires good stopping power. In 1969 Volvo introduced the Dual circuit brake system onto the 1800S, providing greater pressure to the calipers over conventional master cylinders and achieving a 60:40 split on front-to-rear brake balance. This particular 1800S has been refreshed with new front brake calipers and steel-braided brake hoses to guarantee responsive and reliable stopping power.
Distinctive Exterior Features
The exterior of this 1969 Volvo 1800S is adorned with Billet Specialties 15″ Alloy Wheels, adding a touch of modern elegance to the timeless design. What a great video of a lovely 1800S! Due to severe osteoarthritis I can no longer drive my 1966 1800S, but this short video captures the driving experience to perfection. I don't know if it is the camera sound effect but your car seems to be noisier than the original tone. in essence, these Volvo were high quality car and that car translates that to perfection., fun factor included.

Yes, I thought that seems like open carbs, mine were fairly quiet, sounds like exhaust blow, but great car.
