Recent complete restoration of the 1969 World Series Digitalized, cleaned up any color and frame rate corrections with a new layered audio track taken off the original recorded DVDs and VHS tapes for the most complete and upgraded footage I have in the archives.
Original NBC Broadcast on Kinescope (B&W) of Game 2 with Curt Gowdy and Bill O'Donnell and Tony Kubek from Memorial Stadium.
Starting Pitchers Jerry Koosman for New York and Dave McNally for Baltimore as the Mets try to even the series at one game a piece as Donn Clendenon and Al Weiss continue to be the hitting stars for the Mets as they drive in the only two runs the Mets needed to even the series. As Jerry Koosman gives up only one run on two Orioles hits as Dave McNally pitches a complete game giving up the two runs on six Mets hits.
Also Includes the MLB 1969 World Series film recorded off the original commercial VHS tape master

Those were the days!!! No stupid DH, no runner at 2b in xtra inning games, no stupid rule preventing the pitcher from throwing more than three times to first base.

Agreed! So stupid to put runner on SB in Extra Innings. Play the game, people!

Also No Counting Pitches, After 100 pitches, they change the Pitcher and also changing the Pitcher every inning after 5 or 6 innings and no Closer! Even if the Pitcher is having a no hitter!

Koosman pitched a gem---no hitter for 6 innings. It was all downhill for a great Oriole team from then on.

The Mets had a great pitching staff that year. Seaver, Ryan, Koosman, Gentry, and Tug McGraw. I was 10 at the time and seem to remember very few people gave the Mets a chance.

Watch people, there are complete games, pitcher hits, strategy was a necessity, and importantly, all teams had a 4 man rotation. Where pitchers had 200-300 innings at the end of the year. Batters sacrificed, hit and run plays occurred, and striking out was an embarrassment. .300 hitters, because not every batter was swinging for the fences. Pitchers didn't throw 100 mph consistently, thus generally speaking, arm issues were not as prevalent as today.

Memorial Stadium--had a beautiful view looking out to center field. 1969 was the year I learned how to play baseball from a neighborhood friend of mine, long deceased now. It was also the first year I followed baseball, and because I grew up in NJ, you were either a Phillies fan, a Mets fan, or a Yankees fan. I started off as a Mets fan, being in blissful ignorance at the time of the Mets' dismal beginnings in 1962 (the same year I was born), or what would turn out to be their meteoric rise to become WS Champions at the end of that year. In 1972, my dad took me to a Yankees game ($1.50 a ticket for general admission. I still have the stub). From then on, I was a Yankees fan, but this WS and this Mets team will always be the most memorable for me. Looking back at it (I'm watching the whole series since I didn't back when it was live and cannot now recall who won what games. So, it is as if it is all new to me, except for the fact that I know the Mets won, and it is a hell of a lot better than watching today's MLB) I am surprised to see that there were not many Met batting standouts. I recall all the names of that season as well as many of their jersey numbers (Agee, Jones, Clendennon, Weiss, Harrelson, Grote, Swoboda, as well as the pitchers, who were all standouts. I don't know why, but I had no memory of Ed Charles, and, apparently, he was a regular starter. I watched many Mets games that season, but don't recall him) Although Tommy Agee was the big guns of the team, Jones was my always favorite Met. I just loved his name, "Cleon Jones", thought it was cool, and still do 55 years later. I'm amazed to see he is still alive. I think this club proved the adage that good pitching beats good batting. Although at pitching, Tom Seaver was the man, Tug McGraw was my favorite, and Nolan Ryan was the stuff of legend beginning with this WS. Jerry Koosman pitched a gem here. All this brings back some seriously fond childhood memories. 1969 was probably the most formative of my childhood years, and for sure, it was one of the key years marking the end of whatever innocence was left in the U.S.

Thank you (and the CBC for preserving the kinescope) for this gem! Does anyone know how NBC’s truck feed for Games 3-5 came to be preserved? I always wondered how those gems were kept and other playoff games were still wiped until the late 70’s.

They don't even have the 1973 World Series except in bits and pieces. Somebody must have had the bright idea of recording the rest of this World Series on video tape instead of the inferior kinescope.

I’m convinced this was the crucial game of the series. Had the Mets lost this game, they would have been down 2-0 and I doubt they would have recovered.

Mets post season in '69 had an effect on Baltimore Colts NFL and AFL games. First, 10/5 Colts vs. Falcons had to be moved from Atlanta Fulton Co. Stadium due to game 2 NLCS to Georgia Tech's Grant Field. Second was this game, Colts v. Eagles was moved to 10/13 - Monday night. In the AFL - 10/5 Jets v. Patriots was rescheduled from Shea to B.C. Alumni Stadium, due to NLCS which in turn made the 10/26 game a Jets home game. The 10/11 (Sat. night Shea) vs. Cinn. Bengals was rescheduled to 10/12 Sunday day at Nippert Stadium U. Cincy and Jets at Shea 11/23. Jets secondary status at Shea made them schedule October 'home dates' as possible switchable games with teams in their own division (Eastern). This happened again in '73 - 10/14 vs. Patriots and 10/21 vs. Steelers which was a 'lost' home game even though the Mets last World Series game at Shea was 10/18. BTW - anybody know the existence of kini's/tapes of '69 NLCS full games?
