1970 4-speed R-code Shaker Hemi Challenger R/T

This video was taken in October 1996. I found this car before it was restored sitting in the front yard of a trailer home on Hwy 14 just north of Greer SC in 1984 & it was very much NOT for sale - keep in mind that when this video was taken, there wasn't a fraction of the reproduction parts available that there are now.. The asking price in 1996 was $48,500 (which was high-dollar back then) - this is my "one that got away"

That’s funny, we have this exact car in our museum right now. I was just working on it today and decided to go on KZbin to see if I could find it and here it is! The numbers match!

Holy Weenus I wish I bought it for $48,500 when I had the chance. I found it in Greer SC in the front yard of a trailer home with a lawnmower pushed under the front bumper in 1986 (unrestored) & it was absolutely not for sale at that time. Where is it now?

radarvectors2 Newport Car museum in Rhode Island. It was sold at auction to us and put on display in late 2017. We just performed a little maintenance on it this week replaced the fuel and oil and got it running good. It still looks just as good as it does in this video. Not sure if it’s been repainted but looks possible. underside and the engine bay is beautiful. One of 11 rt hemi challengers built with the shaker hood and the 4 speed

I just dug through my old pictures & found the picture of this car pre-restoration. It was painted black and had a regular sport hood on it. The guy that restored it said that although it had the N96 code, he didn't believe it ever had a shaker. he paid $5000 for NOS shaker parts back in the late 80s, early 90s. Being that it was a 8/69 build, I can see how the shakers may not have been ready for production yet. A friend of mine has the other 8/69 built JS23R0B FY1 N96 (D32) car - just a few numbers away from this one. It is still original unrestored and also doesn't have a shaker. although he has the N96 code too, there is no hole in the firewall for the shaker cable. Interesting...
