Alright!! Another Double R video. You don't understand how informative and invaluable your videos are to folks like myself. There's always a few different ways to tackle any aspect of a project, but then there's the Russ way.

Finally, a man after my own heart. Mocking up a '73 RS front end, unique brackets and center lower reinforcement bar were "lost" while at sandblasters. Capable of reproducing formed plate and tube brackets, if anyone has an original to reverse engineer. Please consider a reply to me, no rush. Thank you for your efforts of educating all of us on this level of restoration/fabrication. Fixin' to weld me up a snap ring pliers to duplicate your invention!

I am in the process of replacing the rubber boot on a intermediate steering shaft and was so lucky to find your video on this replacement. You will save me so much time and avoid damaging the parts. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and experience whit us DIYERS. I had one question, the spring clip holding the square bearings in place doesn't seem to want to fit into the cup they slide into. Is that normal. As far as I know the shaft has never been replaced on this 1969 C10 Chevy as I am the secondowner. I purchased it in !971. Thanks again sharing your knowledge Al K
@DoubleRRestorations

Cecil, If I'm understanding your question, that spring clip just sits of the press in shaft a little loose. It will move some. A little grease will help hold it in place when sliding the top portion of the shaft back on. I hope it helps. Also thanks for the kinds words. I hope the vid helps.

You are the first person I have ever seen that rebuilds those steering shafts, and disassembles that bell coupler. It took me a month to discover those Jeep bellows that would work. Wish I'd stumbled into you about 4 years ago when I did the one in my 71. The other thing I went through is matching up the DD shaft and getting rid of the rag joint, and matching up u joints to the array of steering boxes I had, with different size spline input shafts. My inner and outer DD shaft has a tensioner leaf in it so it telescopes. I was curious yours has the nylon pins.

I'm working on swapping a 1968 column into my 1966 A-body and using an intermediate shaft from a 1981 Firebird. The Firebird shaft has what appears to be a non-servicable assembly on the column end, similar to the ones here but shorter. Instead of a retaining clip on the seal, it has tabs formed from the edge of the metal cup stamping that are bent over, seemingly intended to remain that way forever. I'm hoping I can pry them up, remove the cup, and insert whatever assembly is in there straight into the larger cup attached to my 1968 column.
