This show was on for a single year, when I was six years old, and I remember it fondly the this day! I remember that just before Christmas that year, my dad took me to see Santa Claus one Saturday morning, and I was upset that I would be missing "The Bugaloos" to see Santa! Thanks for posting!

When I was in elementary school I learned to play the Benita Bizarre theme with my kazoo and I would play that theme almost every time my english teacher walked into the classroom. It always got a big laugh from the classroom and I spent many hours in the principals office.

this tune was years in the back of my head(dutch version),at last i didn't know if it really excisted or that i made it up.in my memory it was broadcasted in Holland on sunday(4 pm?),before Star Trek.

This was a cartoon. It was televised on Saturday mornings. So I watched it. As an eight year-old, it really wasn't much more complicated than that. Only later did we realize that kids are pretty helpless and unable to dodge and weave around all of the brain rot stuff that adults foist upon us. And let's face it: Caroline Ellis WAS (and probably still is) cute.

Sid and Marty Krofft were geniuses to come up with this show. The Bugaloos were like a British invasion rock group. At the same time, they had the talent of the American comedian Martha Raye on that show in the form of Benita Bizarre. The demographics were there in both the United States of America and the United Kingdom. Little kids loved this show, and teenagers watched it too to hear the Bugaloos perform songs. Nonetheless, I always wondered how the Bugaloos were able to get their surfboards to float along with them in the sky. Like, what was holding their surfboards to their feet as they were flying? I guess that none of the little kids really cared. They just thought it was cool. Me being one of them back then.

I got to participate several months ago in a Bugaloos Zoom Reunion for their 50th Anniversary- The few cast members who participated John P. and Caroline Ellis said they used chromakey on the show, so the surfboards were put on boxes with a blue background to make it appear that they were flying in the sky- I hope this information was helpful

This program was "credited" with reviving Martha Raye's career. NOTHING could POSSIBLY have been FARTHER from the TRUTH! Sidney Krofft and Martin Krofft, who agreed on little else, both HATED "Colonel Maggie," as G.I.s affectionately called her. They made her villain, the evil Benita Bizarre, the ONLY American character(all four of the heroic Bugaloos were acted out by BRITISH actors, all of whom did their own singing), the ONLY old, AND the ONLY UGLY, character(all the heroic Bugaloos were YOUNG and ATTRACTIVE), AND, WORST of ALL, the ONLY UNTALENTED character(every one of the heroic Bugaloos was FORMIDABLY talented as a SINGER AND as an INSTRUMENTALIST, whereas Benita Bizarre was REPEATEDLY shown to be UNABLE to carry a tune and to have NO sense of rhythm)!!! No, the Krofft brothers did more to KILL, and to DESTROY, PERMANENTLY, what HAD been LEFT of "Colonel Maggie's" career than anyone else did. She ended her days miserable and nearly penniless, and senile dementia had almost completely closed down her mind by the time she died.
