This super cool green/green machine 1970 Chevelle SS454 LS5 M22 has been parked in its current location since 1985. It was assembled at the Arlington, TX plant in Forrest green with green bucket seat interior. The current owner has owned the car since 1971.

I can explain EXACTLY why he let's it sit. I used to go in caves all over the USA. There was an old man that owned one of the greatest caves in the midwest. Access was strictly denied. But he LOVED having something that everyone else wanted. This guy is no different. He loves the fact that he has something that lots of people want but cant get. The more people ask... the less it becomes available.

I can vouche for that car being there for that long. I use to read gas meters in that area a while back ago and I have also talked to the owner a couple times. He never wanted to sale. It has always been in that same spot as long as I can remember. And I also know of 2 more chevelles that's only a few miles away from this location that have also not moved in YEARS, they look original too. Patrick, next time you are in Oklahoma, Let me know and i can point ya to where the other two are.

Anyone that would ever consider buying this Chevelle SS; you've got 30 to 40 grand of mechanical restoration/rebuild work that must be done to get this car running right. THEN, it's bodywork and interior work (probably including the instrument panel). I say to Patrick Glenn Nichols: "Go try to pawn this piece of junk off on someone else".

He went out and bought this car decades before you read about it in a book and decided to be interested in them because of their current value. I personally think its crazy to leave it outside in the crappy weather in Oklahoma, but give him some credit- lots of elderly folks have medical reasons why they can't do stuff but they still hold out hope. He probably doesn't have much money but he kept the car even though he probably can't afford climate controlled storage. He also was smart enough to not sell it to the dozens of pot-bellied boomers that showed up over the years and offered him $500 cash for it.

A buddy of mine had a green on green 70 ss. Brings back memories! Anyway, I am in possession of a "barn" find... however, my mom bought the 77 Camaro in 77, slightly used. It was the car that brought my younger sister and me home for the first time, it was our only car until I was 6 years old, and it was still my moms daily driver until August of 1992 when it failed inspection. My dad and I didn't have the resources to restore it until recently. This car isn't a 70 chevelle ss, or anything of valuable desire to the average car guy. It's not even a z28. But this car has been part of my family since before I was born. My parents went on their first date in this car. Many barn finds have a story. I'm guilty of saying "what a waste" when I see cars like this. But then I remember what I have sitting in my garage awaiting my time and tender loving care.

I believe some people buy things like this to make sure no one else can have it

James - No one is hating on the guy. I fully understand that the guy has a sentimental attachment to it, or else he never would have kept it all these years. When I was 15 my dad bought me the Malibu version and had it painted candy apple red. I then put a turbo scoop on the hood and racing Cragar rims, the aluminum ones with the mini bold lining the rims all around. The fat mags in the back, and thinner tires in the front. 350 engine and the cherry picker exhaust muffler. You youngsters don't know nothing about that. Got the interior redone, changed the front seats to racing seats, put the stick shift in the middle and some traction bars. I fixed my rear lights so when you hit the brakes the lights lit up with the letters TR on each sides for my names initials. Did that with cut out card board inside the lights. My card was the bad ass of the neighborhood.I miss you DAD, R.I.P. MEMORIES.

That was the style in the late 70's and early 80's and use to attract a lot of girls. Too bad you couldn't afford it or had a dad who bought you anything you wanted. You sound really jealous, but I feel pity for you and the life you must of had growing up. I guess the general lee was Mexican too. People like you are a joke, must have a really pathetic life. Look around you, what do you see? Does the word loser come to mind? Stop hating and do something constructive. Your life is not mine or anybody's fault.

many years ago there was a 71 trans am that sat in his backyard. the car sat on the grass for many years. I tried to buy it and so did many other people.. car was a 455 h.o 4 speed.. he refused to sell it kept saying that he was going to restore it. finally after 15 years or so. he finally let it go. when the new owner tried to move it the car almost broke in half. so if you are going to store it put in a nice dry place

Huh.... So the VIN tag says it is..... You mean to say that someone created a fake vin#, made a tag, aged the tag and gave it some patina????? Then somehow replaced the tag without messing up the 1980's dirt!?!?!?? That neighborhood looks like people have a lot of expendable time and money !!!!!!! You have already made this comment, and were given an answer! You aren't getting the attention you need?? How old are you? 6?? You fucking moron, get a life!!!! You are wasting perfectly good air that any deserving moth could have. Or termite. Oh and P.s........ I'm sorry about your penis being so small

I had a truck I sold because I just couldn't spare the money to finish it. 90% the body metal was done and it was registered and driving. 6in lift 35s a built 350 with turbo 400 etc. Took a loss but it was going to waist. Saw the kid who's dad purchased it the other day driving down the road and it felt good knowing it was back on the road.

Patrick, You could return 6 months from now and I'll bet you $100 that the car sits in same condition. If the owner has not touched it in 35 years, it is not going to happen in 1 week. That "fire" you say you lit is lit with lighter fluid. We all know those fires don't burn long.

You have to figure what is the car worth? Is it worth paying the owner $25,000. Take the car home, strip it down, sand blast the rust off and find out you need $56,000 to restore the car to have it worth anything. You’re up to $81,000. You have to ask yourself is it worth $81,000 to own one. Plus if you change the color you devalued the car more. There’s better deals still around.

Youe definition of "worth" is strictly monetary. If we believe everything in life is only measured in dollars and cents, than why even bother? People with "real money" don't give a shit what something costs. They want it, they buy it. If You have to think about the cost of a non essential "toy", You really shouldn't be contemplating buying it anyways. What price should we put on enjoyment?

The 1970 model year was the peak of high compression motors running on super hi test leaded. I still own the 1970 Pontiac Catalina SW my folks gave me as a graduation present. It has 21 options and a YH .455-400-323 driveline. I have the build sheet. Made at Linden NJ on April 24,1970. Cost as much as a 1970 Corvette. I used it in my field studies in anthropology for 3 yrs till the 1973 gas shortage. At 6 mpg it went to storage.
