Lou I loved these cars and was looking for one in the early 70's . What I wanted was at least a 383 but preferably a 440. Never found one. This car is immaculately beautiful. The only thing I would change is the luggage rack. I think it really junks up the car. It is heavily optioned. I would have liked A/C. Good report Lou. the idle exhaust rumble was sweet!

Nice car Joe. You've done a fine job too. I'm so glad you kept it original. Not many of those bad boys left, and your's both retains, and presents Mopar history as it actually was! Thank you! Pay attention kiddy wannabes, that car is a true legacy, Old School muscle car right there, at TOP of the game too. 1970 was prime time for music, and road beasts too. I was there! So anyway. I had one of those, almost exactly like it. Same color too. You don't see many, irange cars these days, do ya? Awesome ain't it??? Mine didn't have the luggage rack, or that chrome molding low on the sides, and no elec winders. Mine was in mint condition to the day i sold it in '90. It was original as far as the body and interior went, with the exception of a replaced vinyl top and front seat upholstery (diamond embossed leather, might as well have been hyman for what that co$t!!! $750 per seat in 1980! For a car in original condition, mine looked as pristine as Joe's the day i sold it. Joe's car has been fully restored obviously, and mine was all original, but from 50 feet, I doubt you tell the difference. My paint was still as shiny and flat as glass... with narely a scratch anywhere. But my chrome was not as nice. But to be honest, it really wasn't that good even when they rolled off the showroom floor. So... whata gonna ya do? Mine did have AC, which was very rare for the six-pack cars. I souped the HP-2 engine internally, alot. Made adapters to fit 3 Weber 42mm DCNF carbs onto the manifold and designed my own progressive throttle linkage to better suit driveability with an automatic. That was a real game changer. I'm not fond of Holley carbs. Then i had Henry's Axles narrow the Dana 60 differential and put on 15x15W centerlines with big meats under the beast. The C/L's looked awsome but that was a big mistake because centerlines are nøt round! Suck! I was a transmission rebuilder by trade and spiffed up the Hemi 727B with a special 2.77:1 widespread ratio w/spur cut planetary gear set. Added an 8" convertor from Turbo Action and dialed-in the calibration jist right!!! ya know? Whoop. Ass. Altogether this made for a very nice package! That car ran like a raped ape and built quite a reputation for itself in S. Calif... incl. Whittier Blvd fame. I also added stage 3 nitrous, but didn't use it very much after the novelty wore off. The problem was that the wheels would spin inside the tires (tires slipping on the rims) and i never did find a cure for it. Likewise, a close friend with a 72 Hemi Cuda had the same problem and opted to screw the tires to the rims. That was Bad JuJu! His tires came apart at once, and took out both rear quarters !!! It was a convertable too. In fact, it's the red one made famous on numerous magazine covers over the last few decades. (I know the inside scoop on that car, but let's not go there. mmmmm K?) So anyway, my 70-RT-SE was my daily driver from ~1978 to ~1990 and i put over 280k on it. No accidents, no breakdowns, ever. I loved that car, but in '87/88 i got the fever again and bought a 1984 Daytona and converted it over to a complete Shelby Turbo II pkg, but married it with an automatic trans i built myself. I loved that Daytona so much that i ended up selling the R/T. (Insurance was killer on those cars at the time!) To keep from getting depressed these days, i simply remind myself of how much i hated steering that fuggin' Charger. It was a real chore to drive those B-body's with their notoriously lame front suspension. They went everywhere but straight and it was interrupting my nap time on I-5 south! I grew so weary of rebuilding that suspension twice a year, knowing for certain that it could never be fixed, i finally sold it off to some lucky bastid that has no doubt flipped it for a new home by now. :^{ Oh well. The past is passed, right? And we're all forced to live with our fond memories as well as the not so fond memories. It's kindof a mixed botch for me, but... i at least i can say that i've been there, and done that! Few others have been so lucky. That helps.

What I love about this rare find is that the car had several(not 1 or 2) of the most rare options for a Charger.
