I absolutely cannot stand seeing these other guys take the body panels of a classic and try making it look right on the modern mustang structure and chassis. They don't look right or even good iny opinion but the time and effort was taken on this one to add the modern components into the classic mustang. Beautiful job

Beautiful car! You did a great job on it! I love the classic styling of the old body,combined with the modern performance,reliability,comfort and technology of the more modern mustang! There’s a company in Orlando Fl.called Revology,they build brand new mustangs with the latest version of the coyote engine,(the Gen 3),the modern ten speed automatic,or six speed manual transmission,modern four wheel disc brakes,modern rack & pinion steering,modern coil-over suspension and all the modern computerized,electronic gadgets/options and they use brand new,all steel 1965-1968 mustang bodies! They’re beautiful! I would love to buy one,but they range in price anywhere from $175,000-$225,000,depending on what model and options you get! Unfortunately they’re a little out of my price range,but if i had the money,i would definitely buy one!

I love this video and your car. I have a 1970 Mustang Fastback 351W 4spd borg warner that I bought 23 yrs ago right after HS. I love and have had so many great times and memories in that car. 69-70's are my favorite body styles of classic mustangs and cars. The point is, I'm in the process of restomoding her, the body is 100% completely restored and beautifully painted. I'm now about to tackle updating everything else and it's going to suck. I would love to be able to go to the level of the masterpiece that you created but that's not feasible/practical for me to undertake. I'll be happy to just be able to shoehorn a Coyote/6spd in her and modern suspension/brakes etc for now. If you ever happen to read this, and have any tips on tricks to swapping that motor in, I am all ears and would be grateful. Ps, you built the perfect Mustang! Thank you for your video.

Thanks for your comment!! I wish I could help. I don't have any experience with the kits that are out there to install the coyote. I've seen several way of doing the swap. Hi Mike. We've talked a bit before. We're nearly done with our 2015, 1969 complete swap, similar to yours. We transferred EVERYTHING over from the 2015 doors to the 1969 doors and now the electric windows have hiccups. Driver's goes up in increments. Passengers only goes down. Aftermarket universal window motor connected to the circuit board of the 2015 window motor, so no significant change. Suggestions? Thanks! Warren and Britton
@mustangmike53242 жыл бұрын
Yep...been there. The only thing here is you are going to have to feed the window motor with it's own power source. The circuit board is the problem. I tried, but decided to just keep it simple. Use the power wire because it's fused, but install some aftermarket switches that change the polarity. I ended up using the wires for the sub to make the connections. Not sure of your set up? Hope this helps....
@mustangmike53242 жыл бұрын
Oh...the reason I used an aftermarket radio was because of switch placement for the power windows. There really wasn't a good place for the switches...

@@mustangmike5324 Suggestions on how to interface the 2015 door skins and the door interiors (electronics)? Is it ok to use high quality radiator hose for the gas tank filler tube? We positioned the gas tank under the seats just like in the 2015 donor car. We put in an aftermarket de-gas tank. How high does it have to be to function properly? Pretty tight under the hood. We graded in a mustang 2 front suspension and made adaptations in the frame rails for the radiator, condenser and catalytic converters. Suggestions on interfacing the 2015 wiring harness with the stock headlights and taillights? Were you able to interface the 2015 headliner or did you go with the stock headliner? We’re going with the Corsa cold air intake hoping the 90 degree left turn toward the drivers front corner of the engine bay will fit. Little tight between the intake and the radiator. I believe you said you grafted in the K member from the 2014. Hope we’re not overwhelming you. Appreciate any ideas. Would love see your car in person some day! Thanks for your thoughts.

@@warrenbutler4553 @Warren Butler I'll answer the best I can in the order of your questions... I used dynacorn doors and cut the holes for the 14 harness to pass through. I ended up using an aftermarket power window regulator kit and power door lock kit to keep those functions. The 14 stuff could have worked, but it was way too much work to integrate those mechanisms. The only thing I did use was the power side mirror control. I used the side mirrors from a 15 and up which meant I had to change the plugs around to match. In which, you'll need access to wiring diagrams...if needed. I used a factory 70 gas tank which came with a hose. I assume that radiator hose will work. Also, I deleted the emissions from the computer which allowed me to get rid of some of the plumbing for that system. The de gas tank should be just above the engine and radiator to work properly. Mine is tight too, dont sweat this too much unless you have a cooling issue. To hook up the headlights and taillights was not too hard. I used Dakota digital led kit for the taillights and I used some capacitors from a jeep to trick the canbus in the computer for the headlights. These capacitors are needed or you'll get a message. Look up jeeps and headlight canbus fixes on google. Those guys have had the same problem I did and amazon sells the fix. Don't remember what message said?? Definitely run LED headlights and taillights. Doesn't put a load on the wiring harness like halogens. I used a one piece fiberglass headliner which actually worked out great. It allowed me to use the dome light. Eventually I'll add the homelink. I will say one thing here. If you go with the one piece...add the foam backed headliner material. The material they used is directly glued to the fiberglass and the interior sounds like a fishbowl 😁 I bought a cheap cold air kit from ebay. It was aluminum and was easily modified to fit better. Mine too is tight. I did use the k-member. I used the electric power rack and all. Wanted to keep all the important systems (to me) in tack. I only used the aftermarket when it was needed. Hope this helps a little...

Wow... Just a beautiful project... Could you share any more info on the Mirror Swap.. I had been thinking about doing this on my current 70 fb restomod project. Looks awesome and I am going to do it.
@mustangmike53242 жыл бұрын
Appreciate your kind comments. The swap is a pain to bring structure to the door for support of the mirror. Kind of hard to explain how I did this...I made a pocket/recess/bucket that mounts to the mirror. Once you got that made, you'll have to find the position to cut out the door so it'll fit. The hard part was tying the pocket to the structure of the door. I used a 1/4 piece of rod and bent it to shape. It tied to the door bracing and to the pocket/recess/bucket. You have to get the angle and placing just right. This may take several tries. One thing to keep in mind. You can always use spacers to bring the mirror out of the pocket...if you place it a little too deep. Pretty sure I'm failing on explaining the process to you. It's worth it in the end, but took about 2ohrs to complete both doors. Hope this helps...

What’s ballpark to do a Coyote swap on 1970? And how long estimated time for you all to do? Very nice build!!
@mustangmike53243 жыл бұрын
Not sure how much time, but it has been done on KZbin different ways. Not sure how long it takes because of the way I did mine. I'm sure the shock towers are in the way which will require some modification. Search around...it's out there. Thanks for the comment and for watching!!

Beautiful blend of new and old, fantastic job! How much body work is required to mount the 2015 mirror to the 70 door?
@mustangmike53243 жыл бұрын
It really wasn't too bad to do. Had to make a pocket that recessed into the door. That shape was made around the mirror mount first and then fitted to the door. Once you have all the clearance around the inner structure for the pocket. You have to reattach the inner structure to the pocket. I ended up using 1/4" rod for that. Just made the job easier. It's a tight fit, but it's solid. Hope this makes sense?

@mustangmike53242 жыл бұрын
If you watched the video, then you will somewhat know. Used the floorplan and firewall from the 14. This allowed me to treat the middle of the car like a 14, but focus on the outside like a 70. 460's are a great engine, but it's big! Not sure you like that set up. Would be better to do a stroker 351 windsor. More power without the size. Whatever you choose...hope it turns out like you want!! Thanks for watching!!

What a stunning stang! 👏👌 Love the 15 mirrors, swapping over all the 14 parts(man that just is intense laborwise. The custom front lip using a 2010-14 gt/cs lower section right? What a unique and very subtle look. Along with your custom made side skirts. Which also look sleek and really pull the whole thing together. Only thing I would love to have seen is recaro seats or something more aggressive inside. And maybe the stock 13/14 model year led sequential taillights, which I've always wondered if they would fit the 69/70 model year's. Due to the large rear panel area? 🤔
@mustangmike53244 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your kind words!!! It was a labor intensive job!! The 14 taillights could have worked??? I just didn't think the juice was worth the squeeze. I just ended up using LEDs for the taillights. I sold the 14 tailights for a profit to buy more beers 😁 The recaros don't have the heated seat function, plus the donor didn't have them...that's why that is the way it is. Bought Katskin leathers and carried on. Thanks for watching!!!

Thank you for your comment!! The wheels are 18x9 and 18x10.5. They fit a 94 to 04 Mustang. I got these from LMR or American Muscle. Don't remember. The rears do fit on a stock 70 axle. Just need to roll the quarters for clearance. I uses the 8.8 out of the 14 and had it cut down to get the perfect fit. The front k member is from the 14 and I cut 2" out of the lower control arms and coverted to a SLA suspension. Did this cause I didn't want custom wheels made. I wanted more options in case I want to change the look up. Hope this answered your questions. Thanks for checking out the channel!🤙
