1970 Plymouth 'Cuda AAR Muscle Car Of The Week Video #6
This week, we're featuring a 1970 Plymouth 'Cuda AAR, a high-revving 340 V8 powered Trans Am car for the street! These had all kinds of speed and performance parts, and the high impact visuals to go with them. This particular car is one of only 5 FT6 Burnt Tan versions built, with only 2 known survivors.

This maybe authentic but this AAR 'Cuda had been modified. At EXACTLY 1:05 timestamp, you'll see an ECM on the firewall. This is the computer control unit for Chrysler's Electronic Ignition which was experimental/optional in 1972, standard on all Chrysler vehicles in 1973.

Direct Connection sold Electronic Ignition kits and I replaced my dual point ignition with one. The better the engine runs the longer it will last is the way I looked at and I'm a purist. i still have all of the parts to put it back to point ignition so there is no problem with that.

Interesting to think that the engineers who cooked up these wild cars mostly grew up in the 1930s and 40s.

The paint on the hood is wrong! It should be textured Organisol which has no sheen.

One Of Main Reasons This Sm.Blk.Was Such A Screamer,Besides the 6 Pack,Was The Intake Valves Were Almost As Big As The Big Blocks,So W/ the FUNCTIONAL Hood Scoop + Gigantic Intake Valves,That Engine Was Getting Plenty of Air.That Color & the Few White W/ Blk.Stripes Were VERY RARE COLORS !!!

It is also known in the Mopar crowd as Root beer brown.had a 69 charger and a 71 barracuda and a 71 road runner with a white interior and strobe stripe and tuxedo top in that color I didn't own them I fixed them for the owners......but we called them Root beer.

For those of you who don't know, the 3 speed Torqueflite automatic transmission was superior to the 4 speed manual transmission. I had the T handle slap stick version and it was unbeatable. It never miss shifted and it allowed you to manually shift via the slap stick if you wanted to. However, from years of racing in the desert, I've found that just leaving the Torqueflite in Drive was the best option as it always shifted perfectly every time. In my last race, my 1972 340 Cuda with torqueflite automatic beat a 383 Cuda with manual 4 speed. At the end of the race the guy said, "That wasn't fair, I miss shifted during the run." and I said to him "and whose fault was that."
@willlee3378
@willlee3378 4 жыл бұрын
Maybe more superior in racing but the 4 speed is way more fun to drive and besides stick cars are more desirable by collectors.
@Veteran007
@Veteran007 4 жыл бұрын
@@willlee3378 It was more desirable to collectors because less of them were manufactured. The consumer market moved from standard to automatic in the early 70s. This allowed Cuda drivers to keep one arm on the steering wheel and the other on his girl.

@@Veteran007 hey I'm new is true that a 71 boss 351 can beat a 71 mach 1 429scj with drag pack because heavy engine and will a 70 torino 429scj even if it's heavier than a 71 boss 351 it will beat the boss because of the way is desing

I thought I read somewhere they wouldn't allow the cuda to run trans am because the wheelbase was too short? Or was it that it didn't perform as well as the challenger because of it?
