1970 Plymouth Road Runner Custom in Orange & 440 Engine Sound on My Car Story with Lou Costabile

On "My Car Story" we're at the Carlisle Events in Carlisle PA on 7-12-18.
We're looking at a 1970 Plymouth Road Runner Custom in Orange Paint. The car comes with a modified 440 CI engine.
The car's Owner is Shawn Leasure. Shawn’s had this car since 1986. He shares he’s had this car since he was a teenager and has it as a daily driver, drag raced it, and decided to restore it to his liking. Looks and sounds good to me.

Lou thanks for sharing! I had a 1969 Sport Satellite which was the same body as the Road Runner it was my first car. I preferred the 1969 over the 1968 but I also preferred the 1970 over the 1969 model year. I love the 1970 Road Runner love this color! Never knew or could remember a pillar though. He is sure had a treasure and you can tell he loves his baby! Thanks Lou!

Klasse Act first, please don’t insult me because I did not do that in first place. Your parents did’t told you that?Second, I’m not from USA in fact I live in Europe and I know very well cars from outside America so shut up your big mouth. And third and last, the cars you mention yeah sound great to but they don’t compare. Just put a 70’s Challenger next to its modern counterpart, same goes for a Mustang, Camaro or a Corvette. European cars, again. Just listen the sound of a naturally aspirated italian V12 from any Ferrari or Lamborghini from the 50’s or 60’s and then listen the actual GT4 Lusso, for example. Talking about Alfa, take the Busso (yes, a V6 from not to many years ago), the sound it makes destroys your Giulia. So keep enjoying your modern cars that I’ll keep living in the past. If you come up near Great Lakes Dragaway, let me know i will give you as much time as you like filming my 6 bbl Road Runner ( original 6 bbl car) and my all still original 1970 RT/SE 440 HEMI ORANGE CHARGER. THATS A FAST CRUISING CAR ( ONCE IN AWHILE) AND THE RUNNER IS A 9 SECOND STREET CAR :)))) I HAVE THE ORIGINAL 6 BBL ENGINE IN MY GARAGE. I CAN PUT IT ALL BACK TO STOCK IN A FEW DAYS. HAD IT FOR 33 YRS.....NOT GOING ANYWHERE I HAD TO MISS THE NATIONALS FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE IT WAS IN MICHIGAN AND ONLY MISSED IT ONE TIME BESIDES THIS YEAR. WORKING ON AN ORIGINAL 68 HEMI DART. DOING IT ALL BUT THE BODY. TERRIBLE BODY WORK BUT MOPARS....... I KNOW MY WAY AROUND THE ENGINE BAY. ANYHOW.... IF YOUR AROUNG GREAT LAKES AREA LET ME KNOW, IF YOU WANT YOUR MORE THAN WELCOME TO FILM, DRIVE IN THEM ETC.

My buddy had a graduation present from his father in late 1970 a 70' RR Coupe Vitamin C. Here's the kicker.....it had the 426 w/pistol grip and Trac pac w/4:10's. This was an export car and was driven From Toronto to Northern BC where i met him in early 70'. This was one of 44 Coupes built. He had a fire under the hood and it sat for years. I have only seen 3 other hemi 4 spds in that color. This is a nice RR by the way. Great job Lou!

MOPAR decided to place a door post in some of the 69.5 and all of the 1970s. The main flaw of all the guys I knew who had RR & GTX was the door windows failed so much trouble. It really sucked when out on a date with a fine woman in this fine car and the windows fall into the door on her side. Not an easy fix door panel and new bushings and guide rails and it happened a lot.

A roadrunner in 1970 didn't look that muscle, just a sort of muscle car with a coupe body... Then in 71, boom! True muscle!
