On "My Car Story" we're at the Carlisle Events in Carlisle PA on 7-12-18.
We're looking at a 1970 Plymouth Road Runner in Orange Paint. The car comes with the 426 CI Hemi engine.
The car's Owner is Joe Jerry. Joe’s had this car since 2005. He shares his Dad used to work at a Plymouth Dealer and as a 5 year old he would sit in the car since it has the cartoon Road Runner on it and play with the “pistol grip shifter”. Years later he bought a car just like the one he used to sit it.
Now that’s determination!
This one looks showroom new today.
If you’re interested in learning about the different events at the Carlisle Events, go to the website at www.carlisleevents.com
ENJOY!

Ahmed Kadem me too.. Interestingly in 1970 Imbought the DODOGE Coronet 500/3834 BBL, AUTO,CONSOLE/ Red & Black,Vinyl top... really a powerful car. I did order a 68:ROAD Runner in and passed on final Buy... Anyways, in retrospect I could have looked longer in 1970:for a aMAGNUM/SupeeBee, etc. THOUGH WARSAW INDIANA road Salt is rough in MOPARS( esp lot of Plymouth’s) my Dodgemwas a Disaster in 10-12 years,,,

In the spring of 1970 at the local shopping complex , it wanted to draw in shoppers by placing new cars from several Companies since the winter was over buyers came out in the spring . I had only seen a 69 Road Runner GTX . So imagine my surprise when I saw the rear of a bronze coloured 1970 Road Runner where the side had a funny decal with loops over lapping that ened up as the Dust cloud after the cartoon decal of the Road runner. The car had black interior with a Pistol grip 4 sp , rally rims , tinted glass Black hood decals and raised White Letter tires. This Orange car looks nice as a sleeper with black wall tires and dog dish hub caps. btw That Shopping Centre opened in 1962 and featured Johnny Crawford at the main Deparment Store that sold Records . Johnny was a Mouseketeer that went to The Rifleman TV show , he had 2 pop songs on the Chart in the 1962 which helped draw in the local Teen girls and the males that watch Johnny in the Rifleman.

Comments: Too bad this car didn't come with a Tick-Tock Tach... Of course that would depend on the build sheet... Very nice Coupe with the chrome center posts and pop out rear windows... The sedans had the rear roll down windows... I wasn't able to see the rear differential as to whether it was a Dana 60 or a limited slip... I thought I saw a limited slip but it was very brief ! I was also curious if it had front disk brakes... I did see the power brake booster... All in all very nice presentation and great source story. This vlog would a great reference for anyone restoring one of these birds... I did read all the posts to date and commented about "proper" hood closure below... Other than that, Great Presentation Sir!

For your younger readers there was nothing like the 69 road runner I lived with from 69- 77. No air condition back then, hurst shifter shook when you started it up from power, you actually felt the sound of mufflers when sitting in car, and when you hit the gas it lifted right out of seat. Now for bad, you couldn’t even lean on car without denting it, seats so cheap cracked very quickly, when we had glass packs put on carpet inside caught fire briefly because floor so thin, and it was a SOB to keep spark plugs from gumming up. But nothing like pure muscle direct from factory.

70 Roadrunner was my first car and my favorite even before we got it. I always noticed one if I crossed paths. NEVER did I see one with the dust trail, and once with a Go Wing. It was very uncommon and people are adding this rare option to them when it wasn’t original to their particular car. Same goes for the blackout on the Challenger RT. Never saw one, but owners add it on their non optioned cars. Kinda shameful.

I'm not sure if this is my old neighbours Hemi RR. I lived in MacKenzie BC in 1974 and Al had his car since new which was a graduation gift from his father. Bought in Toronto,Ont. and driven 3,000 miles with the 4:10 gears and driven to MacKenzie,BC. There were only 59 Hemi RR 4spd hdtp's built that year and i bet there were only 3-5 built in EV2 color. He had a fire under the hood and we tore the engine out and repainted under the hood. I can remember us sawing one of the original pistons in half out on his deck as he ordered new pistons, rings and a gasket set. he floated a valve and it kissed the piston. Sure had lots of fun with that car. I was in the passenger seat and we went out to the local drag strip (4 mile long road) and we did a burnout and when he thought it was in 1rst gear (it was actually in reverse as i seen the reverse light come on) he had it around 5,000 rpm and he side stepped the clutch. Let me tell you.....that car made some crazy noises from the rear end banging,to the tires barking and the whole car shuddering but it never broke nothing. He ran it hard like i ran my cars also. I don't think this is the same car because it would have had an export i do believe......but i could be wrong. This car brings back a lot of memories and this a beautiful example of a Hemi RR. STUNNING. Great showcase as all your video's Lou!!!!!!!
