I was in Glasgow for the 1977/78 strike. We were based at HMS Graham, an RNVR place and as a young RAF man I found it exciting. As a strange coincidence I ended up marrying someone with the surname Graham whose parents were from Glasgow.

21 pounds for a 48 hour week is 44 pence an hour. That is pretty low even for 1973. The average wage for a male was 38 pounds a week for a blue collar worker.
