48 years to the day and still great to hear this gem snatched from an otherwise long-since forgotten Tuesday afternoon on Delmarva in early summer of '75.

I wonder if 92.7 was owned by Mel Gallub then. I worked for him for a few years in Calvert County. Who remembers Power 107 in Federalsburgh in the early 90's?

Yes the building still stands right off of Route 13 around the Laurel/Seafood area. More woods have grown up behind it now.👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
@canton731 Жыл бұрын
@steven spedden Yes, it's surrounded by woods and there are a couple of other buildings that surround it. I grew up in the mobile home park across the highway. I wish there were more photos of this and maybe the surrounding area. The tall tower in the back has a red light on it at the top that has been blinking since I was a kid growing up in the 1990's. I was born in the 1980's. I went away to college, came back, and looked out the window and often notice that the red light at the top of the tower is still blinking and I smile. I know the radio station is still running and the building is in great shape but I never see any cars up there. I happened to notice today that there are woods that surround the back of the building.

@SFMSports - yeah... this sounded good. This *was* small market radio before you and I were thought of! I'm not sure if it is a product of the tape, but the processing on WSUX-FM had much to be desired. WLRB actually had good separation on this - and a very full sound. You know this market as much as I do... and I think we'd all about KILL to have a station like WSUX still around - that while it had flaws, was local and had an exciting sound.

@stevations I grew up in the mobile home park right across the highway from this radio station. The tall tower with the blinking red light has been there since I was a kid. I was born in the 1980's. It is really good to hear about the history of this radio station. The radio station, building is still there today.

10:49 The Cheech Marin impression is spot on but the Tommy Chong voice is without a doubt the worst that I've ever heard. They weren't even trying.

I worked for WWTR in the late 1970's until it was sold. I believe the announcer in the beginning of this clip was Jack. (Not Renault.)Sorry, I cannot remember his last name, but I do remember he left and went to work at the station in Ocean City, Md for many years

It can sound that good these days but radio management won't let it. You see, we had a very progressive Gen Mgr at the station who understood the value of creative radio. Spontaneity, is what makes radio special. What draws folks to Howard Stern? You never know what the crazy bas&*%d will say. It was the same here. You never knew what was going to come out of your radio. I know, I was there. That was me!

Bryan Gadow, do you have just WICO airchecks from the 1970s or do you have the 1980s too (when I was on there)?
@bryangadow14597 жыл бұрын
3 years have gone by & I still haven't figured out how to upload them! Maybe this winter. The WICO clips are from the 80's. One is a very short clip of a male DJ (can't remember his name, deep voice) & I think I have a Hank Williams, Jr special they aired...maybe some NASCAR races.
