Tony Bruno Show For those of you who don't know, Tony Bruno was a big part of WFIL, as the quintessential deep - voiced newscaster. One of the all-time greats of Philadelphia broadcasting!

birdsfan57 Easily one of the all-time greats! It was a blast listening to his sports talk show! He really has a talent for making even mundane chatter interesting. To use one of his favorite catch-phrases he was "beautiful, man"!

This is fun! I remember recording a whole side of a cassette tape straight from WFIL when I was a kid, probably around 1975. I also remember listening to that tape I made a lot, for some reason. (Why didn't I just turn on the radio?) Now I would love to hear it, because of course I couldn't hear anything similar by just turning on the radio, but the tape is long gone too, vanished into the mists of time. Thanks for this blast from the past.

In 1973 WIP was the number one station in Philadelphia. Ken Garland owned the mornings back then.

He sure did! So many great memories getting ready for school (Jr. and Sr. High), while listening to his iconic voice playing the easy listening pop hits of the day. One of the best of best of the Philly DJ's. How I miss those days!

Labor Day weekend 1973. The following week I would be entering the 10th grade at Frankford High School. Seems like it was just yesterday. I miss this time in my life and am glad I got to grow up in the Philadelphia area.

Was nice to hear Dr. Don Rose and Ken Garland from WIP 610, I was in Vietnam and missed those stations. I was in Philly when WFIL 56 became the religious station. I live in Texas now and miss the old Philly Stations when I was a kid in Vineland, NJ

What a coincidence, the high temp according to WIBG will be 99 and the high temp according to WCAU-Fm will be 98.
