Where do they get the vocal groups to sing all those great jazz harmonies in the station jingles like the one at 9:33 (the Jersey Mermaid)? The chords are awesome, and I would never get tired of singing them.

thelonearranger1A company named "Pam's Jingles" did almost every snappy radio jingle in the country back then.

Yes.... 4 and 5 part harmony, often dubbed over and over again 3 or 4 times to make it sound thick and rich like that. The Carpenters did the same thing.

My parents favorite station back then, they listened it to when driving to the shore from Philly/ We did that every year from 1971 to 1980. Great memories sitting in the back seat of the car listening to some great music. Music really sucks today..... what happened?

At 6:22 you hear the end of the Carpenters "I Need To Be In Love". That was released in mid-1976.

Radio was important in NJ back then because reception from NY was pretty flaky. I remember that "American Information Radio" sound from back then. Don't think I've heard it for 20-30 years. (at 6:00) Thanks!
